corollaTE27Fan Posted February 2, 2016 Report Posted February 2, 2016 Can someone confirm the best stud length to use when fitting alloy wheels to the standard KE20 hubs both front and rear as I can't work out what is best length to use. I will be using an aftermarket closed nut rather than reusing the standard open wheel nuts Also, can anyone recommend a long centre console that fits or can be modified to fit the standard KE20. Thanks chaps Quote
parrot Posted February 3, 2016 Report Posted February 3, 2016 You would presumably need to do a trial fit and see how much length you need? I imagine it would be wheel dependent? As for long consoles. The "TE27" style is most desirable but very expensive via limited markets. In reality it was available in other xE2x chassis than the actual TE27, but you probably would have to source one originally via japan (or those that source and sell them on such as Malaysian, Thai sellers etc, or possibly via the US. Everyone knows their market value. Probably a TA22 console will be fairly close with respect to shifter / handbrake positioning. It has a clock and a change drawer with lid. Neither are likely to be readily available in the UK, so you will probably need to cruise local breaker yards looking for a local alternative. Quote
corollaTE27Fan Posted February 3, 2016 Author Report Posted February 3, 2016 Thanks for the response Pete, I have trial fitted a wheel and the standard road wheel nut goes on but not fully on the standard wheel stud, I reckon I would need a stud about a half inch (13mm or so) longer than the standard. existing stud on the car. Just wondered if there is a rule of thumb for working out the optimum stud length as I don't want to find they are too long so I can get a closed head wheel nut on. On the centre console question would anything from the AE86 fit as parts for these are generally a little easier for me to find. Quote
tojo2 Posted February 3, 2016 Report Posted February 3, 2016 Like Pete says lugnuts are wheel dependant so first find the wheel you want, then find a nut to suit and then youll be able to work out if you need to change studs. Some wheels need shank nuts so wont need longer studs even if stock nuts only go a few turns in. Studs are 12mm x 1.5mm pitch so eight turns will give you same length of engadement as stud diameter. don't know what the rules say tho. Quote
