Leeroy Posted September 26, 2015 Report Posted September 26, 2015 Has anyone done or heard of this conversion? Engine comes in RWD form from a 2wd d22 navara. Also from a bluebird (U13) but that's FWD. Is there somewhere that covers the legalities of engine conversion in QLD for road worthy purposes? Cheers Quote

Leeroy Posted September 26, 2015 Author Report Posted September 26, 2015 Awesome. From what I can find online, ke55 coupe weighs 920kg? I thought they were more like 840kg. Either way, ke24de seems to be a legal conversion in regards to displacement. Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted September 26, 2015 Report Posted September 26, 2015 under ncop a ke30 is 830 kg i think. either way its plenty legal without a turbo. its a good idea, do it! 1 Quote
Leeroy Posted September 26, 2015 Author Report Posted September 26, 2015 Now that I know it can be done legally, I will have to ring a few wreckers to see if they have any d22 navara wrecks. Not much power difference between ka24de and sr20de. Ka24de has more torque mid range for better drive-ability. Will post what the engine prices are etc and I'll go from there. Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted September 26, 2015 Report Posted September 26, 2015 Along similar lines a 3rz non turbo would also be legal under the new rules, they look very similar to the ka engine, and are also a really good engine. Quote
Leeroy Posted September 28, 2015 Author Report Posted September 28, 2015 No one seems to have any rwd ka24de engines. I found one place that has a ka24e from a navara, which isn't a great motor. But they wanted $1100. Seems cheaper to just do a sr20det or ca18det :/ Quote
mattress Posted September 28, 2015 Report Posted September 28, 2015 My first car was a pintara trx with a KA24E and my second car was a 180SX with an SR20DET. I've also driven a friends SR20DE pulsar and personally I'd go that option over the KA if you want non turbo. The KA isn't terrible, or maybe it is and i was just impressionable. Either way $1100 for the single cam version is a little rich. Quote
ms85er Posted November 20, 2016 Report Posted November 20, 2016 I considered this at one point, and there is a guy that did it in europe I think, he drifted his ke70 with a ka24de. I personally don't think it's worth it, If you are sure you want to use a ka24de than go for it, but I think there would be better options tbh. The 3rz-fe is pretty good, weighs less, more displacement and much cheaper to turbo down the track, and ofcourse the sr20 route, it is a decent engine the ka24de, but not a particularly great one. LittleRedSpirit Posted November 23, 2016 Report Posted November 23, 2016 Do it, but buy a whole shitter Navara and get everything to make it run in one, then its just a matter of grafting it together. I gotta see another 2.4 corolla. Quote
