Why such a harsh comment Matt?

Bearing upgrade or not, most bearing failures i'd bet are due to improper installation. get the preload wrong and you'll flog it out in a few kms.

The other thing is, bearings cost like $40, and take an hour or two too change. If you need to change them twice as often as normal, that might be every 50,000 instead of every 100,000km. Not a big issue i reckon.

Also buy decent bearings, not china specials, i have been burnt a twice buying cheap bearings.

Matt, could you tell us about your bearings failing and whatnot ? How often, how many etc ? I don't care about the right/wrong argument I'd just like to hear about issues you've experienced ?

Chestikoph, can you update your build thread its been ages ! You ever decide on a tubular front end ?

This is a view I do somewhat share. To be honest if i had to replace bearings every 20k-50k km I wouldn't be too overly concerned, although not ideal. Don't think that means I don't value your opinion and will just go ae86 regardless.

Very keen to hear this also. No one it's arguing you don't have the first hand experience, but at the moment you're sort of just telling us you have it and not expanding on the nitty gritty of it!

Have spent a good couple if hours today researching coilover kits again. A general consensus on hsd and bc seems to be "ok" but you get what you pay for. There are 2 kits which keep getting a consistent "excellent"...

1 greddy type-s. Problem hear its I'm really struggling to find someone in aus who actually sells/imports them.

2 Shockworks. Firstly the are an Australian company....components may be made in Korea but all the r&d is being done in aus. Am going to contact them tomorrow to discuss possibility of breaking up their kit somewhat.

Found a facebook post from them in mid July stating that there last order of 10x stub axled 86 kits will be the last and they'll be going back to 'weld your own on'. Caibs obviously got one of those 10 not sure how many are left.

An advantage of not getting stubs is you can graft xt130 etc on instead to have the bigger bearing. Downside - can't use pre-fab 86 brake kit.
