cuzzo Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 or they will do whatever RACQ would do and use a coat hanger to pop the lock from the window rubbers. Quote
JiP Posted April 25, 2006 Author Report Posted April 25, 2006 I'm not saying that my car wont be 100% unbreakinable. But if it came to reparing the car i'd rather fix a window than a door!! My parents car was recently broken into and the f@$ker had wrecked the whole door handle and lock. Anycar can get broken into. I just hope that with no locks on the door they might see that someone has gotten the locks removed cause they now have an alarm. Even in the case of my parents car they ended up smashing the window so not just did they wreck the door but they wrecked the window. And no one knew what had happened for hours until i came home from work. If an alarm sounds then i will know straight away and so will everyone else drawing attention to them.. Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted April 25, 2006 Report Posted April 25, 2006 The alarm should go off if they try to swing off the door lock with a screw driver anyway. Quote
JiP Posted May 20, 2006 Author Report Posted May 20, 2006 (edited) :) -Hey guys. I've been thinking alot lately and have been wondering if the parts in my car are KE30 or KE55?? Ok, heres why. Its a 1978 KE30, but has a factory KE55 dash. So i've been wondering what else it may have come with?? I havn't gotten under the car to check but know that the KE30's and KE55's came with diferant diffs. I just wanted to know what it has?? Plus if there is anything else that was differant between the two models that the "last of the thirty's" may have come out with as they were changing over to fifty-five in 79. thanks, Jon. cuzzo Posted May 20, 2006 Report Posted May 20, 2006 what ive noticed in ke30 - ke55 is that in the ke30 the front part of the engine bay is removeable but the ke55 one is welded in. this part here: Quote
JiP Posted May 20, 2006 Author Report Posted May 20, 2006 (edited) :) -I'll check that out in the morning. For some reason i feel it could be either on my car. Edited July 16, 2006 by JiP_01 Quote

Plus if there is anything else that was differant between the two models that the "last of the thirty's" may have come out with as they were changing over to fifty-five in 79. thanks, Jon. I have a 1977 KE30 with an early dash, and I have a 1977 KE35 with a late model dash, these cars are even the same month on the build plate. What you keep forgetting, is that these cars are almost 30 years old...you're car could have had several diffs put in it before you got it. So checking what sort of diff it has doesn't really prove anything. Anyone could have changed any number of things on your car between 1978 and now. Anyone could have ordered any number of extras on the car from the factory when they bought it. The other thing is, these are cheap mass produced run-abouts, and judging by the things I have seen on the cars I have owned...toyota didn't care too much about them. And my old 1978 KE30 didn't have the removable radiator support panel...we had to cut it out when we put the 202 in, it couldn't be unbolted. Tomorrow I will check the KE55 I have here, and the 2 KE30's and see what they have for radiator support panels. Quote
lappy Posted May 21, 2006 Report Posted May 21, 2006 on the KE30's you can un bolt it where ok the KE55 it is spot welded in Quote
JiP Posted May 22, 2006 Author Report Posted May 22, 2006 (edited) :) -Update. :) :D :( :P :P :bash: Today my car hit 12,000km's on the clock, then it hit a Suzuki Vitara. (Jon would like to advise all young Rollaclub Members to look away as the folling contains a damaged Rolla who's teeth have been knocked out.) Before... Now Edited July 31, 2008 by JiP_01 Quote
cuzzo Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 Ouch :) The rolla will never die though. Hope everyone involved is ok. Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 How did that happen? Did you run up the back of em? Why did it have different coloured guards on it anyway? Quote
Corolla_Kid Posted May 22, 2006 Report Posted May 22, 2006 oh well that gives you a good excuse to get it fixed up and get the whole thing repainted :) that bright orange sounds tough with a set of 15 inch superlites slammed on its guts :) Quote
JiP Posted May 22, 2006 Author Report Posted May 22, 2006 (edited) :) -I had the differant colour guards cause the old ones had rust and i needed to have em repaird for my roadworthy. I was planning to get her repainted when i got my tax back, but now it seems that that money wont stretch as far. Just if i were to buy the other guys parts from the wreckers it'd cost me around a grand. Sadly, he wants to go thru his insurance, so i think the bill will be much heigher. Jon.
