Hey, what do we think of this idea fellas??

Keeping with the classic look the car will be painted in two tone. The car in yellow while the roof will be an off white/tan colour. Then on the C pillars I will have either two early Corolla grill badges or maybe have a decal made up.

That looks horn! I think its missing something though, maybe black around the door frames. When i first saw the pic i thought it was a vinyl roof. I think the vinyl will look better on the roof than having two tone paint. If your going to paint the roof i would just keep it all the same colour as the rest of the car. 18" chrome wheels on that are hot! :y:

lOl, I did that years ago on a web site that isn't around anymore. There is no way the car will get a vinyl roof. Its too risky cause if its not done correctly the roof will rust out underneath the vinyl.

As for the black around the door frames its a maybe. I was also thinking maybe black roof. But then if I were to do that I'd want to look into seeing if the paint could be applied to look like vinyl.

I need to start collecting the Corolla badges to see what would look good on the C pillars. I was thinking maybe the early KE30 badge or maybe the blue or red KE55 button ones. I think that would give it a bit of class. If all else fails I'll look into a sticker/decal or maybe having a few badges professionally made.

Great idea :y: . I like vinyl roofs that are in good condition. it is something different that you don't see much any more.

Yeah, I've had the idea for a long time but yesterday I was drivimg behind an early Kingswood and really liked the way it was painted two colours.

Was it a white roof you saw?.

they use to do that a lot on 60's 70's have white roofs it actually makes the cars interior cooler in summer.

Yeah I think the car was maroon with a white roof. And if that is tru then having a lighter colour roof for Lolla should make her cooler. Not that she isn't cool enough. :y:

may look good on the cars from that era cause i've seen an au falcon gettin around in my area that is blue with a white roof

it looks horrible :yak:

That blue and white falcon you see is actually a company car for some company

I was offered the original chrome strips from the original KE30 vinyl roof the other day. I declined as they are too square. They apparently match the body lines below the door windows the run up to the roof. Its cause they have to get around the fuel filler. I've decided just to use the stick on type of chrome strip. When it comes to the fuel filler I'll just cut it and rejoin it on the other side. I don't think it'll look that bad.

Just a thought, maybe one day I might have the interior in the 3o redone to make her more Delux. I was thinking maybe brown leather or suede.

I know you can't see it that well but this is what I scored the other day. My car is a SE so it fits well with my theme. Tho I would rather it be the Corolla emblem in the center...
