Jierexx Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 So having some problems with acceleration lag on My rolla, also a bit to high idle. The problem is when i go from cruising speed and go full gas, i get like a lag before the car starts to accelerate again. Possible to adjust the carburator and in that case how should I adjust it? Best regards Quote
Clapped out Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 Idle speed is very easy, just wind back the idle screw located at the linkage on the carby, as for the lag, could be mixture or something along those lines, remember if you nail it in down low revs, it will lag/hesitate regardless, hope this helps, cheers! ke70dave Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 Is this the standard carb? If so buy a carby kit to replace the needle and seat and all the gaskets. Clean everything while you got it appart. You can't adjust anything but over the years the seals go and the needle and seat wears out. Quote
GJM85 Posted May 3, 2015 Report Posted May 3, 2015 It's likely the accelerator pump plunger is cactus. Quote
altezzaclub Posted May 3, 2015 Report Posted May 3, 2015 It's likely the accelerator pump plunger is cactus. yup- look down the carb throat and flick the throttle wide open. You should see a jet of fuel squirt down the throat. Then see when it starts squirting after you open the throttle. If its not immediate then its carb strip time. It could also be your dizzy not retarding and advancing correctly. Grab a timing light and make sure it advances and retards up to 2500rpm and back, and if it has a vac diaphram on try it with that disconnected as well. Inlet leaks also can do this, so check carefully for any splits in vacuum tubes and if you suck on the vac advance tube it shouldn't let air through continuously. A common one is the inlet gaskets, so check the nuts and bolts holding the manifold on. The inlet leaks will also give you a fast idle. Quote
Jierexx Posted May 3, 2015 Author Report Posted May 3, 2015 Thanks for all the replies! Will take a look now this morning and try get a bit more wise about this. This repair kit, where to get hold on that? I'm from europe and seems like most of the things for this monster is on the austrailian market. Quote
