That's no good!

You borrowing a corner of some local garage and ripping it apart yourself? Did it back in the 70s when I first came to Aussie, the Beetle blew up on a trip from Canberra to Darwin....

Supposedly the engine was totally rebuilt which I wouldn't doubt as it drove great and was super responsive for a NA.

I'm leaning more towards a cooling system issue. I know they have issues if shit isn't bled properly. It could be as simple as a cooling system that's been used more for urban stuff not up to the task of extended driving.

I'll know more soon. We were lucky enough that Sams dad was at our house and grabbed a trailer and came and rescued us.

The guy I bought it off has also refunded me $500 to cover trailer hire, racq membership and buying a new gasket and head bolts. He didn't need to do this and I was blown away, great guy 10/10.

Looks like you will have a really sweet ride when you are done. Plus, you will have the peace of mind knowing that you put it back together right. Too bad it wasn't like that from the start. It is what it is.

Yeah that's my philosophy. I can do an egr delete and tidy up the engine bay as well. Gotta look at the positives.

I wanna get something I can feed down the coolant pipes to clean them out. Might see if the local hardware store has something
