Felix Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 think the vettes used to run tranverse leaves (similar to ke10 std front). not sure if they still do though. Quote
Killswitch Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Good ol wikipedia! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corvette_leaf_springs Didn't know such a thing as transverse leaves existed, interesting stuff. Disadvantages of leaf springs according to Wikipedia said: Perception. Like pushrod engines, the leaf spring has a stigma that overshadows its advantages. Quote
st.nick Posted June 21, 2006 Report Posted June 21, 2006 David said: the te27 TTE ( Toyota Team europe ) WRC/ Gr.B rally car they won the 1000 Lakes Rally in '75 actually had leaves AND equal length 4link arms!that's the first production rally car toyota used.. with the 151E engine ( 16v 2tg ) I'll post a picture of it later The TE27 wasn't a Group B!! The Turbo-twincam Celica or "whistling Pig" was TTEs only group B car. They finished a pair of MR2 Group B cars, but then the formula was shutdown!! Reinhard Klein's book says that the TE27 had coil rear, which is kinda strange, but I can't find any pics to back that info up. The TA22 was Toyota's first production Rally car, then they swapped to the TE27. They built a 2L version, but couldn't homologate it in time (if they had, rally-statisticians suggest that it would have been better than the Escort), + Toyota Head Office decided that it wanted to market the Celica as Toyota's "Sports Car", so the Corolla uber rallycar died til the WRC car from a few years back!!
