Chingy Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 Can anyone help with what fittings I will require to run an additional oil pressure and water temperature gauge for a 4k. Thanks in advance Quote
parrot Posted November 11, 2014 Report Posted November 11, 2014 Depends on type of gauge, mechanical or electrical, do you have senders etc Quote
Super Jamie Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 You can get a T piece off the oil pressure sender, re-attach the original sender, plus connect the pressure gauge sender. You could do the same for water pressure, or look through water pump catalogs for a water pump with one more fitting than your current pump, and use the spare fitting for the sender. There are about a billion different shapes of water pump for K motor so you'd probably find one pretty easily. Last I heard, running engine fluid into the cabin was not allowed in registered cars here in Australia, so you'd need electric gauges to be street legal. Check your local laws. Quote
Banjo Posted November 12, 2014 Report Posted November 12, 2014 Hi Colin, There are a number of different thermostat housings on KE series that have more than one hole to fit additional temp sensors. There is even one thermostat top cover/spout that has a temp sensor on it, like the one below. The thermostat housing usually has temperature sensor attachment point of the dizzy side. On the opposite side of the thermostat housing there are normally 1 or 2 attachment points for the carby plumbing thingies ! Remove these, and fit an SASS 16mm:1/8 NPT brass adaptor. You can then add a second temp sensor, leaving the original dash guage sensor intact. I did this a couple of weeks ago, whilst needing an extra "coolant" sensor for a Haltech ECU, while leaving the original dash temp guage sensor intact. Cheers Banjo Quote
Chingy Posted November 12, 2014 Author Report Posted November 12, 2014 Hi thanks for all the replays, a great help. Unfortunately parts over in the UK are scarce. I was looking to for the oil run a T piece or a sandwich plate. Can any one help with stock threads, is it 1/8 BSP also what would the oil filter thread be? Water.... would this be 1/8BSP as well. Thanks again Quote
