Stroudy37 Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 hey everyone, just a quick query. looking at buying a ke35 the guy is asking $5,500 for the car yet it has no roof lining or carpet. rust has been welded and it has been re painted (in my opinion a crappy colour) in hemi orange with a black hood. Old Torana style. From what I understand, the guy doesnt have most of the front grill assembly either and the car is running a 4k engine with high cam. To me this car is worth a max of $3,500, and thats pushing it. I saw a ke35 go on one of there forums earlier this year for $5,500 and it was a complete rebuild with a 4age in it I think and everything was immaculate. But as I havent really had any experience with old school corollas as yet, was more of a WB ute kind of person, I though I would ask. unfortunately i can't upload pictures from my phone but I will as soon as I get to my computer. Clapped out Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 A car is only worth what someone is willing to pay............... Quote
silverra23 Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 I think you are on the money, it doesn't sound like car that is worth 5.5K Quote
Jono.C Posted August 15, 2014 Report Posted August 15, 2014 Sounds like $1500 to me.. Painted or not disassembled cars are not worth a fraction of normal price. Especially as bits are apparently missing Quote
Stroudy37 Posted August 15, 2014 Author Report Posted August 15, 2014 (edited) it is regoed and running but still isnt any where near what he is asking for it, will upload photos tomorrow morning. Edited August 15, 2014 by Stroudy37 Quote

Stroudy37 Posted August 15, 2014 Author Report Posted August 15, 2014 you mate are a bloody legend! haha that will give me a lot of buying power against this guy, he is very pompous and thinks he knows it all! haha thanks! Quote
parrot Posted August 16, 2014 Report Posted August 16, 2014 I'm with Jono. 1.5 absolute max. Incomplete car, Hi cam is a meaningless marketing term Toyota used. If I was you I would keep looking around til you get a good feel for the market. They come up regularly Quote
springersrolla Posted August 16, 2014 Report Posted August 16, 2014 5500!!! tell him hes dreaming!! i have owned a few 35's, they come up occasionally, and usually good examples for resonable prices, if its not complete, and had rust and your unsure whats under the paint, theres no way id pay 5.5 i sold an absolute mickey mouse 35 about 4 yrs ago for 3g, months later i saw it in justcars and ebay for 8grand. it never sold. luckly they don't have the big price tag that some datsuns/mazdas are fetching. id keep looking around but make him a offer and let him know where you stand and why. he may find hes being unrealistic. remember for a price that high id be wanting a rebuilt car. not needing to put any money into it and everything fresh. each to there own but yeh incomplete, bit rough round the edges, rego $1000-2000 good luck there cool cars Quote
Taz_Rx Posted August 24, 2014 Report Posted August 24, 2014 Looks like its had a price drop!... http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/70245-ke35-new-paint-located-perth/page__pid__687412#entry687412 Quote
Vourn Posted July 25, 2024 Report Posted July 25, 2024 Every aficionado for vintage Japanese cars is aware of the rarity and uniqueness of this KE35 hardtop. Aside from the highly sought-after Celica TA22, TA23, and TA27 liftback, this is a stunning example of a classic JDM car that aficionados need to take seriously. I've always wanted one, yet I have a hard time finding one. This ancient vehicle needs considerable maintenance in order to be roadworthy and fit for practical use. To get one back on the road, you'll need money, time, and patience. Being able to drive it around, especially on the weekends, and owning one is a whole other experience. Every other car and bystander will be staring at you and giving you a lot of thumbs up and praise. After putting a lot of time and work into restoring it and giving it a new 4AGZE supercharged engine, I now own one, and it's incredibly fulfilling. Something that even non-enthusiasts would likely concur with. I wish you the same luck in finding your ideal KE35 and proudly driving it everywhere with head held high. Quote
