GJM85 Posted July 12, 2014 Report Posted July 12, 2014 Just thought i'd share a couple of photos of the Toyota Sports 800 that has been at the last couple of All Jap days here in Qld. What a neat little unit! This series of car produced between 1965 & 1969 and only 3131 unit were manufactured. The engine is a 2U-B flat 2 cylinder 790cc twin carb engine. It is actually the predecessor to the 4U flat engine manufactured by Subaru for the Toyota 86. Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted July 13, 2014 Report Posted July 13, 2014 It is actually the predecessor to the 4U flat engine manufactured by Subaru for the Toyota 86. The only thing that a 2U and a 4U have in common is that they are both boxer engines with the "U" engine designation. Apart from that, it is like saying that a 3K is the predecessor of the current 2ZRFE. Toyota basically ignored their entire history of naming engines to call the modified FA20 a 4U Quote
ke70dave Posted July 13, 2014 Report Posted July 13, 2014 I saw this thing on the road maybe 6 months ago, i think i posted some photos up here somewhere. Soo damn cool. Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted July 13, 2014 Report Posted July 13, 2014 Al Palmer brought his silver one to Toyotafest a couple of years ago, it's not until you see one in real life or with a person standing next to it that you realise just how tiny they are. Quote
parrot Posted July 13, 2014 Report Posted July 13, 2014 There was one down in Melbourne at Classic Japan. It was a hot day, and I was struck by how cramped and hot the cockpit would have been. And cockpit is much more appropriate in this case than interior Quote

Near on 50 years of automotive technology separates them. But if Toyota sees fit to name them in the same series, who are we to say different? Quote
