ke70_dyl Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 well, my mate down the road bought an ae86, i worked on it with him for a couple of days.. i always wanted a ke70 but working on a car made me want one even more. i hunted for about 2 days and i found this, a slighty rusted, manual, flat front ke70! all he wanted was $400 and i was on my way. i am only 15 and will be getting my lerners in about 3 months.. i live in the sunshine coast and can't bloody wait to get my licence Plans-- new carpet paint all trims/dash blaaaack fix rust noiiice spring / shock setup, nothing ridiculously low just so she sits beautiful quads chrome bars make door cards like reed. bigport 4 age :))) 2 1/2 exhaust central locking stereo list is endless. first day i got it, it arrived at my house at 11pm, me and my mates went and picked her up and i sat in the car on the way home full of happiness. words couldn't even describe it, i couldn't get to sleep that night, i kept thinking about all the mods and plan i have for her. the next day i got home from school and instantly started looking trough the car to see what i could find, sorted through the boot and found some interesting items should i say. the car overall was pretty messy needed alitle tlc to make her good again about a week on from the day i bought her, i have already stripped out the whole interior, fixed some of the minor rust, gave her a good ol polish/wet and dry ahahah i have started to paint the interior black today and did the roofliner and dash! came up beautifully (used vynal die if any one is wondering,, $16 a can) scrubbed all the dirt and grime of everything i took off and now waiting for the sun to rise tomrorow to get stuck into more painting. ordered a new carpet, boss kit and nardi wheel for her this week pics to come soon thanks :) Quote

B.L.Z.BUB Posted June 19, 2014 Report Posted June 19, 2014 Nice score. If only they were all still this cheap. I'll have adjustable red Koni's and Celica ST Ultra Low springs to suit the rear available for sale in a few weeks. Quote
joshke70 Posted June 20, 2014 Report Posted June 20, 2014 Hate to break it to you, even if its mod-plated can't have a 4age on your P plates so unless you are planning on getting rid of it then id keep the stock powerhouse Quote

ke70_dyl Posted June 23, 2014 Author Report Posted June 23, 2014 so, update time I'm filling in the place where the roof racks would go, i personal think it looks better, seen it done on my mates ke70 these are some photos of the rust and my mates 86 also got the girls to sand my bog :)))))))))) the photo of the rear quarter looks worse than it actually is. dash is back in, got a new head unit and have no idea how to put it in :( ahahahha took out the "cs" "5speed" "toyota" and "ca" bogged over the holes and sanded them out so they sit noiice anyone had any experience painting their seats? the paint i did my headliner and dash says you can paint seats. might give it a go. thanks guys :) Quote
Jono.C Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 Don't paint your seats.. We blasted and cleaned mz20 cloth seats in a friends car, painted black with the dye.. I drove it for 5 minutes to mitre 10, got out and my back and ass were coated in black powdery shit, And this was after they'd been vacuum'd and it'd sat a few days.. It doesn't sink into the material.. We chucked the seats out because it just ruined your clothes Quote
ke70dave Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 Lookin good. I'd be weary of panting seats too. I think you"ll be up for a welding job on that spare wheel well though! I sure do miss the days of playing with cars with mates like that! Quote
ke70_dyl Posted June 24, 2014 Author Report Posted June 24, 2014 Thanks guys! And thanks for the tip about not painting seata Quote
Mechanical Sympathy Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 But now when it rains and you open the door, or wind down the window... nevermind! It'll be happy days when you get it registered. Quote
Jono.C Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 (edited) Yeah I reckon the vynal die iI rubbish. It rubs off dashs and looks like crap when that happens, it's not very water happy either.. It's cheaper to buy material and trim the doorcards yourself than vynal die them Edited June 24, 2014 by Jono.C Quote
ke70_dyl Posted June 24, 2014 Author Report Posted June 24, 2014 I'm making door cards like reed had in cop bait.. and yeah dunno about seats. Might get them reupholsterd or get some recaros or something Quote
