Golden Wattle Posted March 29, 2014 Report Posted March 29, 2014 I just went through the same drama, in the end had the old alternator reconditioned. Cost me $185, at least with the old one I know it will fit. Quote
ke70w brad Posted March 29, 2014 Author Report Posted March 29, 2014 oh true? well it looks less and less promising the more time goes on Quote
styler Posted April 3, 2014 Report Posted April 3, 2014 I believe they came out with both types, nippondenso or bosch and you can switch the electrical connections over as they are both internally regulated although you might want to double check that just in case. The bosch has an externally replaceable diode/brush pack which is better. Quote
dannyl Posted April 26, 2014 Report Posted April 26, 2014 (edited) where i live we can get parts from the rebuilder. my last nip was $6 usa for brushes and $17.50 for internal regulator. the rebuilder said he was swamped. showed him the nip i.d. sticker bearings were serviceable. needed a piece of sandpaper for the sliprings. put em in on the tailgate of my ol chevy then carried it back in for a bench test. thumbs-up rebuildable core from the u-pull-it yard was $8.50 usa . now that was a lucky day side note, on newer stuff you want to inspect the slip rings before buying a rebuildable core. one slipring has higher resistance. it gets eaten up by the brush as a result Edited April 26, 2014 by dannyl Quote
