RT81Guy Posted January 28, 2014 Author Report Posted January 28, 2014 hey clevos dad. good feedback. i'll be on club reg and so far ive found its like a complete change. i accidentally cut a divvy van off late at night in a pub district in melbourne. quick breatho, i apologised and told them i misjudged it plus they sped up and it was all over. and thats in a vl turbo! club plates rock. also theres so much space in these wheel wells but not enough space under the car. i recon youd only just be tucking tyres by the time the exhaust was laid out on the ground Quote
RT81Guy Posted February 10, 2014 Author Report Posted February 10, 2014 so this weekend I've had a chance to pickup parts fro the post office and start bolting stuff back together. I fitted a new ignition coil and replaced the rocker cover with a spare one i purchased from QLD. also replaced the split indicator lense which is a rwc hold back. also with this week in melbourne i've been able to drop the car off at a local datsun specialist. the guys knowledgable regarding older jap carby cars and should be able to get it running. I'll let everyone know how we go with it but hoping i'll be able to pick her up running later this week. PHOTOS! this is the inside of the factory rocker cover. looks grubby on the outside but goddamn ive never seen anything so clean inside. the signs point further toward it being a genuine KM car. inside the head. vl wrinkle red :) Quote
glenpos Posted February 10, 2014 Report Posted February 10, 2014 looks good mate, i checked that trim on my spare car and its got a nice dent in it, will look on my other one when i'm out my block and see how it is Quote
RT81Guy Posted February 12, 2014 Author Report Posted February 12, 2014 cheers Glen. if you have a spare 12R intake amybe let me know on that aswell. my one has all of the original stickers etc and i don't want to repaint it and lose all of that! or even a red lid in good nick as mine is all buggered. SIroller Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 shes been ticked off by the club mechanic as roadworthy. hopefully registration and transfer tomorrow and then i'll be able to give it a sneaky drive to work friday. plates and club boo probably wont have arrived but its legal as long as its registered. I've also been quoted for insurance at just under 130 for it. $5000 agreed value choice of repairer salvage rights $200 excess through shannons. so its all peaches down here1 just gotta get it registered before the insurance can be issued. SIroller Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 and my current registered weekender at a local show recently. any melbourne heads may have seen it around? i'm always out at some little gathering. not a hwy cruiser though. Quote
glenpos Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 wagon looks nice mate, well done with the rona, i had a look at the strips on my other coronas, they are pretty much rooted, sorry i can't help, iv'e got a spare air cleaner lid kicking around somewhere, will find it and post a picture to see what you think, cheers Quote
Granny Ke30 Posted February 20, 2014 Report Posted February 20, 2014 (edited) That nanna blanket is AMAZING! Very underrated car, very tasteful what you're doing with it. I drove an RT81 around for a while, they're a great car. Edited November 18, 2015 by Granny Ke30 Quote
Trent-KE30 Posted February 20, 2014 Report Posted February 20, 2014 nice rona, you'll find the 12R is in fact not the cut down holden 6, the cut down holden 6 was the "starfire" or toyota 1X. i was actually looking at this as well when i saw it for sale but have too many projects, they are a sweet vehicle. cheers trent Quote
Mark90 Posted February 20, 2014 Report Posted February 20, 2014 Been ebaying nanna blankets myself after seeing yours, but can't find one with a pattern I like like yours hahaha. They're all crap or massive and expensive!!! Quote
Mark90 Posted February 20, 2014 Report Posted February 20, 2014 Also, I noticed in your picture of the new tyres the chrome trim that sits behind the hubcap is in really good condition, did you manage to find brand new ones somewhere or were yours just tidy as? Lol Quote
SIroller Posted February 28, 2014 Report Posted February 28, 2014 hi everyone thanks so much for the positive feedback. Trent, - be thankful you didnt buy it i havent done the sums but i budgeted 5g on road and its blown out for sure :( Mark. - nanna blanket was a salvos job. theres always a few around, i have some smaller knee rugs that might help ya? also the hubcap trims were just overrated. theyre just cleaned. its another plus that its been a genuine km car. in my eyes anyway! so now shes registered insured and driving (and in melbourne) I've had a day to spend on it. just a little detail, a bit more cash (Grrgh :/ ) and lots of polishing. shes running sweet, but heat is sitting a bit high. ive been recommended higher thickness oil but in the meantime i've ben puhing through lots of radiator flush. It seems the entire car has been sitting since 1990 with water (no additives) in the car so thank god its not completely blocked. Pics! steering wheel is the prfect colour. decent fitment 14x7 with a 185 / 65 same tyre 6.5" rim dash cover back passenger footwell Holla! bolted the seatbelts through this so it stays in place. thats a 1993 Melways. absolutely Mickey condition.
