51RJZ Posted January 16, 2014 Report Posted January 16, 2014 hey guys I bought my corolla a few months back and it came with a hopper stopper brake kit. how ever it doesn't bolt up to the factory struts. since then I have found they suit a celica strut so I'm wondering what is needed to bolt up a celica strut into my ke38? silverra23 Posted January 18, 2014 Report Posted January 18, 2014 Depends on the model Celica - TA22 struts are different to RA23/28 and later ones for instance. However as a guide, I would be thinking swapping the top hat from the Corolla strut to the Celica strut will be step one, so that you are using the right size springs for the Corolla. The other challenge might be the "steering arm" bolt spacing on the bottom of the strut housing. There are two sizes in Toyota land generally, and you might need to use a Celica/Corona arm. Best bet will be to measure the hole centres and see what suits - AE86 ones might be another option. Quote
51RJZ Posted January 18, 2014 Author Report Posted January 18, 2014 thanks, ive been doing abit of reading up on it. I have the ra28 struts. Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted January 18, 2014 Report Posted January 18, 2014 Thats good as RA28 struts have the bigger stub axle, so bigger bearings, longer life and smoother ride with bigger brakes. Pretty much the same as RA40 and the geometry works in earlier corollas so thats fine too. DO it up! Quote
51RJZ Posted January 18, 2014 Author Report Posted January 18, 2014 ill take some pics while I do it. I'm sending it away to get some welding done but once I get it back ill try swapping and see how it goes. Quote
