sidke70 Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 I currently have cut falcon springs in my ke70, about to get it registered and was wondering the risk of them falling out or me being caught with them, has anyone been done for them before? Quote
ke70dave Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 You are always best off buying proper springs, you wont get cut springs through registration (If the mechanic has any sort of inteligence) Plenty of people get done for cut springs. plenty of people get away with it. luck of the draw really. Keep in mind if the cut spring is found to cause an accident your insurance will be void. This is the most worrying part of it all in my oppinion. As for falling out, so long as you have shocks that are the appropriate length and the cut end is pointing up into the chassis they wont fall out, its not entirely ideal though. Better off getting a pair of springs 2nd hand to save any hastles. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 Do you have short stroke shocks? Quote
sidke70 Posted January 13, 2014 Author Report Posted January 13, 2014 I planned to get low king springs and new shocks but being an apprentice money is always tight, I guess ill just have to wait till a later date for rego. As fas as I know they are just stock shocks, could be wrong though. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 (edited) VN commodore wagon rear shocks are perfect. Cheap at a wreckers too. Edited January 13, 2014 by B.L.Z.BUB Quote
ke70dave Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 (edited) I think you are better off buying shock absorbers brand new if you can stretch the money. you can get some bargains at the wreckers, but if you buy new they will last years, you never know when the wreckers ones are going to fail. but if they look good, and they are cheap....then i guess its worth a punt. I suggest KYG excel G part number 343113, which suit a commodore of some kind (might be VN, i thought that this particual code suited some factory lowered version). they fit great, and they were only about $150/pair (have a chat to GSL rally sport, he is always the cheapest around) As for springs, there was some king springs on ebay for about 130 a pair. Problem is its hard to know how low they are going to be. Edited January 13, 2014 by ke70dave 1 Quote
altezzaclub Posted January 13, 2014 Report Posted January 13, 2014 Why not just jack it up on the chassis and see if the springs are tight when the wheels are hanging?? If they can be turned by hand at full droop I'd say you have trouble. Quote
sidke70 Posted January 14, 2014 Author Report Posted January 14, 2014 Yeah mate jacked her up this arvo and the rears are loose as. The fronts are chopped too! Looks like its all new suspension for me! Quote
