I am in Tehachapi.....you had replied to my post on JNC. My goal is to get this car on the road for its 40th birthday in june....we'll see. number on this car is 124***. she has not been registered since 1985, hopefully not going to be a huge ordeal when I go to DMV....I do not want a salvage title, it was never in a junkyard, just used as a ranch car until it was parked in the late 90's.

You should be fine with the DMV. Tell them that you want a "statement of fact" form. This will let you tell the story of how long you have had the car. After this, they will do a VIN verification, check to see if it’s stolen, then you get plates. I would try to use the original plates if you can.

I thought the car looked familiar. Working on it and getting her going sounds like a blast. Take lots of Pics.

thanks for the dmv info.......had not heard of the statement of facts form. I was thinking of getting the previous owner to fill out a non-op form which would state the dates the car was taken off the road. hopefully between both of these options there will be no headaches.
