balaiz Posted October 5, 2013 Report Posted October 5, 2013 where to get push rods for a 2tc? my intake rod is bent Quote
balaiz Posted October 5, 2013 Author Report Posted October 5, 2013 also how do i test if the valve is not stuck Quote
bruce Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 I got my 3TC chrome-molly pushrods from Euroexport: http://www.euroexportinc.com/3tc/valve-train-components/toyota-2tc-3tc-chrome-molly-pushrods-set-10013-5-16.html But I think postage has gone up. Have to get a shipping quote. If you want something more local then there is Jet Engineering: http://jetengpushrods.com.au/ I got quoted $140 to have them make up a set. Alternatively you can find a second hand one. TA22 or T18 engine. Quote
bruce Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 What do you think bent the pushrod? Piston hit the open valve? Quote
balaiz Posted October 6, 2013 Author Report Posted October 6, 2013 i live in north america lol will that one fit without any problems? i thinkg its stuck closed lol not sure on how to test it Quote
bruce Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 I think 2tc and 3tc pushrods are the same length? Have to check. Here's a set here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/TOYOTA-2TC-3TC-CHOME-MOLLY-ALLOY-VALVE-PUSH-ROD-5-16-/121182104817?vxp=mtr In the description it has: Factory length 4 (8 ½”) & 4 (6 ¾”), so you could measure yours and see if they are the same. There's other options as well. Brdracing and Paradise Racing specialise in T-series stuff. Quote

bruce Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 i think ill order on brdracing they seem legit lol will do that later ill let u know what happen thanks OK, brdracing has been around for a while and are well known for specializing in 3TC stuff. When I ordered from Euroexport it seemed like it was shipped from Puerto Rico Quote
balaiz Posted October 10, 2013 Author Report Posted October 10, 2013 (edited) its stuck bro i straighten the pushrod as best as i could, then put it back and the rod is bent again, stuck valve. what can i do to unstuck it? Edited October 10, 2013 by balaiz Quote
bruce Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 Not sure. Haven't encountered this before. What's the history of the engine? Any modifications? It's possible the valve stem is bent and is jammed in the valve guide. Maybe from hitting the top of the piston? The head might have to come off to see what's going on. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 Yeah sounds like a head off job. Remove the spring and valve....if you can. Can see if its bent by rolling it in a flat surface. If the valve did hit the piston, what caused that? Timing chain jumped a tooth!? Quote
balaiz Posted October 10, 2013 Author Report Posted October 10, 2013 car hasnt run in 5 years, i just bought it for 600 i don't think the valve stem is bent cause it looks straight to me I'm thinking its stuck on the vavle seat. how do u remove the head? didnt see any bolts anywhere lol also if i take off the head i need new headbolts right? Quote
bruce Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 (edited) Looks like it has been sitting for a while and has seized? The valve stem or valve guide has rusted and expanded making a tight fit. First off you could remove the spring with a valve spring compressor tool. You can get the one where you don't have to take the head off and can be done while it is in the car. Then spray something like WD40 lubricant on the valve stem and guide. You could take the valve seal off to get in there more. Leave it for a while to allow it to penetrate. Then try and work the valve loose. Maybe light taps with a hammer, but not too hard so it doesn't damage anything. If it's still stubborn then the head might have to come off. Being old, be prepared for extra work and costs. I reckon the head surface would need a machine. The head bolts are bolted down with the valve rockers. There's 10 of them. You could reuse them if they are still in good condition. Good threads and not rusty. Edited October 10, 2013 by bruce Quote
balaiz Posted October 10, 2013 Author Report Posted October 10, 2013 wont the valve fall off if i do that? ill search for some spring compressor without removing the head any idea what its called? Quote
