B-Lugg Posted October 5, 2013 Report Posted October 5, 2013 Hi guys, I'm still relatively new to Queensland and it's laws, I have purchased a 4A-GE AE71 from a friend in Melbourne and I will be bringing it up here and when the current registration expires I will get QLD reg on it. However I know that states have far from uniform laws when it comes to modifications and conversions, in Victoria it isn't even very defined, some authorities say because there is no displacement increase that you don't need an Engineers certificate or anything... Moral of the thread - What's your idea on the process of having a 4AGE AE71 legally on Queensland roads? Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted October 5, 2013 Report Posted October 5, 2013 You need it blue plated, you may or may not need to upgrade the brakes depending on the engineer. I got 3 codes (engine-performance upgrade, seats and brake swap) for $200. Quote
B-Lugg Posted October 5, 2013 Author Report Posted October 5, 2013 It already has a JDM 86 front, so that's all square. Thanks for that mate. Your guy wasn't further south of the coast was he? Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted October 5, 2013 Report Posted October 5, 2013 Nah hes in Kunda Park. People say you can get away without mod plates but its not worth it IMO. Got pics of your new ride? Quote
B-Lugg Posted October 5, 2013 Author Report Posted October 5, 2013 Bugger, I'll start trying to find a guy. Thanks for the help mate. I'd much rather have my arse covered than get hassled for it down the track! I'm flying to Melbourne to pick it up next week ;) , I'll bang a thread up for it ASAP! Quote

B-Lugg Posted October 6, 2013 Author Report Posted October 6, 2013 Any knowledge of anyone based on the Gold Coast? Quote
ke70dave Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 Front page of modplate.com.au "AVCS will visit your premises we cover Brisbane, Ipswich, Toowoomba and the Gold and Sunshine Coast by appointment" Quote
rian Posted October 6, 2013 Report Posted October 6, 2013 (edited) http://www.rollaclub...qld-mod-plates/ Costs $150 - $200 to get it engineered in QLD. Cheaper than the eleven hundred billion dollars you would probably have to pay if you ran into someone and your insurance company decides they don't like you anymore because you didn't get pay to get a piece of metal stuck to your firewall.
