NoPsi Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 (edited) Well I know I said to myself and everyone else I wouldn't touch this one but how can you not???? It's begging for the Craig touch. Big front brakes, bigger drums and a 5speed at least. I'v done a little bit of research today. R31 struts should almost be a bolt in affair. (Haha. Bolt in. Who am I kidding??) The bolt spacing for the steering arm is 80mm just like the ke20 and the strut height is only 20mm longer than a ke20. Probably end up with a little bit of increased track. I am just waiting to find out what the ID of the r31 spring is so I can work out whether or not I need to convert them to coilovers. That's it for now apart from giving it a wash sometime when I get a chance. Edited November 5, 2006 by NoPsi Quote
Tiger Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 I was waiting for this! hahahahaha Just couldn't help yourself, could you :P Quote
Dan Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 He is fully sick habibi... that car rocks. SR20DET+T :P Quote
NoPsi Posted May 1, 2006 Author Report Posted May 1, 2006 (edited) What have I done lately??? Well today I replaced all the rear spring bushes with some nice polyurethane Super Pro stuff and the front swaybar with the same gear. I adjuste dthe steering box up and got rid of the 20mm or so of free play slop. Also picked up a 4k, for a carton of XXXX, which is in need of a rebuild. Apparently I overpaid. LoL. Thanks Biggo. :P Still umming and ahhing over what brakes to run. I like overkill. Big brakes ROCK and STOP hard, buuuuuuttt this car isn't really that kinda weapon. It's my daily. Looking at just settling with KE70 struts on corona arms with KE55 drums out the back. Wheels??? I want wide but I'm not prepared to pay for it. Currently thinking R31 steelies widened out to 7 or 8 inches and then painted a high gloss black. Meh I dunno. Probably also start bodywork on it soon. It's currenlty like Monet. Looks good from afar but shit up close. That pisses me off. Thinking about a little bit of custom metal work here and there. Nothing major, just subtle. Keep you kiddies updated soon. NoPsi Posted May 1, 2006 Author Report Posted May 1, 2006 Hahaha AE86 parts. Overkill on price maybe. :P Quote
NoPsi Posted September 10, 2006 Author Report Posted September 10, 2006 I have a dying 3k and many many parts that need replacing. I have myself another car for 5 weeks starting tomorrow. I also have a fair chunk of what was formerly known as Mango, thanks to Jamie. Can you guess what is going to happen over the next 5 weeks? Here's a little hint. My wife stripping down (get your minds out of the gutter) a certain worked 4k so we can inspect it before a quick gasket change and head rebuild. Mechanical first. Visuals later. Quote
ancullen Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 Nice work on having a wife that's already to help strip down and do some head work. That was meant to be a serious comment, but I couldn't resist the double entendres. Quote
NoPsi Posted September 11, 2006 Author Report Posted September 11, 2006 It's just too easy isn't it. Hahaha. Quote
Medicine_Man Posted September 11, 2006 Report Posted September 11, 2006 Heart of mango hey? This thing should get up and boogie :D Quote
NoPsi Posted September 17, 2006 Author Report Posted September 17, 2006 Finally got to get stuck into it this week. The head is off getting rebuilt. Unfortunately (and Jamie wasn't to know) 3 of the exhaust valves were sitting 20thou too low into the head, there was a couple of cracks and the head face itself was 3mm out because whoever skimmed it only managed to skim one side of it. Bugger. Oh well. It's all fixable which means it should get up and haul ass once I have it back. The block disappears some time this week to check that over as well. Started the big strip down on the car. Upon removing the front guards I found some unfinished accident damage. Guess I'll need my sledgy out for that one. ;) Anyways diff, struts, tailshaft and springs are out. Quote
ancullen Posted September 17, 2006 Report Posted September 17, 2006 That colour is sweet. It's pretty much exactly the colour I'd love to have on a car someday. Doesn't matter what car, just want that colour. Do you know what it's off? Quote
