Toppy93 Posted August 28, 2013 Report Posted August 28, 2013 Hey guys i know most of you will say it is a waste of time but i'm on my p plates for another 2 and a half years and i have myself a 4k motor and in queensland can't drive a 4age in a 70 so i would like to know on some stuff i could do to my engine and maybe if people could point me in the direction where to get the stuff from? I'll start with i already have an exhaust (no extractors), currently got a stock carby but have a 32/36 webber not fitted and thats it. so i was thinking -shave the head? -electronic dizzy? -mild cam? -extractors? -91 octane -new plugs, leads etc? Anything else that could be useful and not massively expensive let me know and please if you know where i could get some of this done at a decent price in south east queensland would be good :) Quote
ke70dave Posted August 28, 2013 Report Posted August 28, 2013 Gday mate, nice lookin car! Here is a good place to start with K motors, http://www.rollaclub.com/wiki/index.php?title=Tech:Engine/K_Series/How_to_build_a_tough_K_motor i think the first paragraph sums it up niceley, but there is some good detail in the above link. Don't spend heaps of money, it's just a crappy old K motor. Balance everything if you can afford it. Use a 20-60 cam in a 3K, 25-65 in a 4K, 4K is better. Run 0.400" valvelift, fit heavy duty springs if you don't want the stock ones to wear out in a couple of years, use 4K valve gear. Shim the oil pump spring 3mm for more oil pressure. Run between stock and 10:1 compression. Get the distributor recurved. Fit extractors and an exhaust larger than 1.5" but not larger than 2". Fit a new timing chain and tensioner. Put something better than the stock carby on, but not too big. Don't rev it past 8 grand. Quote

luk3333 Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 I would have to say they thing you would notice the most improvement for the least $$/effort would be a weber carb followed by a cam. If it is auto, changing to a manual is also a really good power increase Quote
