Rusty1 Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 I have just fitted a set of 40 mm DCOE webers to a 3K in a Ke11 corolla, Problem being that the air cleaners wont fit on the carbs due to being to close to the strut tower. Has anybody done this before?? is so how do I go about getting around it??? deforming the strut tower, manufacture different air box type setup?? I'm stuck, any Ideas?? Cheers Quote
Teddy Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 :P has a ke20 with a set of side drafts, hes got very skinny side drafts on there, and he has no room for a set of ram tubes. With that said, if you have a descent picture of the setup, like that in your avatar, but more centering the picture on how much space between the strut and the side drafts, ill do some editing, and show you how to do it. Options are either get really small air cleaners / create custom vertical intake setup (ill make a pic, if ure reallllllllly keen) or make an upright kit for the motor. :) Quote

Fayt Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 well no one is forcing you to put air cleaners on them, but ive seen a pic of where you can get foamy filters that just slip on, and you tie them with a bracket, and they require hardly any room at all Quote
Teddy Posted March 11, 2006 Report Posted March 11, 2006 Foam filters are crap. don't even consider putting them on ! They self destruct internally, and you end up sucking in more filter than air ! Especially if you have had some backfiring up through the carbs, burnt foam falling into motor doesn't help performance. :P K&N all the way. They ARE the goods. Pics loaded as requested.
