faulksy Posted March 9, 2006 Author Report Posted March 9, 2006 Being a passenger in the car that previously had this engine in it, i was quite scared.....haha. you were scared in the ee80 in the hills doing handbrakies but not as bad as the as the ashamed VT commodore not being able to keep up with the ee80 :P Quote
Raven Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Lol, yes well, that EE80 doesnt handle too well! Though after driving it myself I know i can now trust you in it! Quote
Biggo Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 Hot damn I love them lil hatches, but this one beats the living daylights out of em :P Whats needed to get her on the road? Quote
faulksy Posted March 9, 2006 Author Report Posted March 9, 2006 just the swapping of the motor in fx-gt and some other bits and pieces. then putting the front panels on, rego and off she goes. well thats the plan Quote
faulksy Posted March 9, 2006 Author Report Posted March 9, 2006 not particular. i had to buy a whole ee80to source a bonnett and grille :P thats one expensive excerise Quote
faulksy Posted March 9, 2006 Author Report Posted March 9, 2006 Bloody nice package mate, bet it goes like stink. I reckon go for a GT2871R turbo with a smaller exhaust side, I think .61 Irokin said might be doable :P i have a gt28 now. not sure on the exact specs but will update when i do Quote
faulksy Posted March 9, 2006 Author Report Posted March 9, 2006 i wanted the GT28RS disco potato. was my 1st choice but came across a recondition gt28 for $600. if i don't like it. ill sell it and get the GT28RS but its saved me some coin have microtech LT12 Quote
Biggo Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 AFAIK .64 housing is the biggest you wanna go on a lil 4age. Seems to be ALOT more GT28's goin around now, and alot are finding ways into the hands of shitbox enthusiasts :P Quote
faulksy Posted March 9, 2006 Author Report Posted March 9, 2006 Hearing a lot more people swapping to the LT12... Might look into it when its time. Go the disco potato :P lol i love the ecu. managed to get a very nice smooth map out of it. nice curve aswell. well, that is once the bis ass turbs finally made boost. have managed 180on 18psi. not aggresively tuned. should be good for 240kw on 24psi :) ( the turbo is easily good for that) but not keen on hearing something go bang Quote
faulksy Posted March 9, 2006 Author Report Posted March 9, 2006 24PSI... thats nuts... 180 is quite respectable, and in such a light car that should be heaps lol don't worry thats not my target. its fwd after all. mind you it appears not to have a normally lsd. possily trd? think its 1.5. will settle for around 160-170 for daily driving on around 16-18psi on the new turbo and maybe wind the boost up for the drags or dyno days but only to around 20psi with a much smoother power curve with the smaller turbo the car should be an easy 13sec car Quote
faulksy Posted March 14, 2006 Author Report Posted March 14, 2006 car hasnt been polished yet nor will be until the conversion is complete as will be leaving off the panels and bodykit to minimise the risk of doing damages to them Quote
Raven Posted March 14, 2006 Report Posted March 14, 2006 It still needs touch-ups done here and there and its not polished yet nicko :D That was straight off the gun. Quote
