Hi Matt,

Welcome aboard. Is your KE30 currently a manual or an auto ? There lots of threads on this website regarding fitting 5 speed boxes into KE series Rollas with existing manual 4 speed, & auto gearboxes. Suggest you search a bit, as the reading & pictures are good.

You have an option of 5 speed gearboxes, as early ones, usually out of KE55, had the gear lever forward, whereas, 5 speed boxes out of Ke70s, had the gear lever further back, and usually require cutting the tunnel to fit them in.

hi my car is a manual, but was originally and auto so there is a very big hole where the auto selector use to be.

so in saying that can i just slap a 5speed into my car

Yes it can be slapped in. K40 out, K50 in. If your not fussed about where the gear shifter ends up grab a KE70 5 speed as they are newer and I have heard the selector position is actually better in a 30/55 using one.

I've just transferred mine from an auto to a 5 speed in my ke30. It's a ke70 5 speed. Better in my opinion as the shifter is further back, you don't have to cut the tunnel out as much (even though yours is already cut out) and the gearbox mount isn't all that far away from the original one on the chassis.

the gearbox will bolt in no dramas just the gearbox position. In all honesty and bet everyone one here has done this. bolt engine and gearbox in, find hole, cut out with 4" grinder or tin snips, cover old hole with a bit of scrap and tech screw it then cover in carpet.

its easy as ʞ©$ɟ, not a show car, do it be done with it
