bennymac Posted July 19, 2013 Report Posted July 19, 2013 Hey fellas, just bought a ke35 and chucked my Ssr mk3s on, rears fit well but the fronts foul on the lip of the caliper? Wheels are 14" 7j -+0, research I did prior to putting said they would fit easy. Caliper is a sumitomo with 6 18 stamped on, is this the stock caliper? Cheers Quote
coln72 Posted July 19, 2013 Report Posted July 19, 2013 Had to try and fit a few different wheels on my '75 ke35. Could change calipers. Quote
bennymac Posted July 19, 2013 Author Report Posted July 19, 2013 What sort of offsets are you running now? Might give some spacers a go first before messing around with calipers.. Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted July 19, 2013 Report Posted July 19, 2013 Its not about offset its about spoke area clearance or x factor as some people have been calling it. Quote
you_nes Posted July 20, 2013 Report Posted July 20, 2013 is it fouling by much? when I put my dragways on the 55 i had to take off about 2mm of material from the caliper (essentially the casting seam) to get it to clear. Seemed a bit dodgy at the time since it's the stiffening rib that you are taking the metal out of but it made no difference to pedal feel and 5 years of daily use later and things are still perfect. bennymac Posted July 20, 2013 Author Report Posted July 20, 2013 actually looking at it in daylight I realised even if they did clear the calipers the wheel studs don't even come out far enough for the nuts to grab hold of due to the design of the wheel :/ Will either need longer studs or weirdly thin wheel nuts Quote
Clapped out Posted July 20, 2013 Report Posted July 20, 2013 Just throw on a pair of girloc callipers, problem solved! cheers! Quote
DZach23 Posted July 20, 2013 Report Posted July 20, 2013 Shanked wheel nut's might solve your nut problem. Quote
bennymac Posted July 20, 2013 Author Report Posted July 20, 2013 Haha yeah just figured that out today.. Cheers for the responses everyone Quote
