Trev Posted July 15, 2013 Report Posted July 15, 2013 (edited) thats not thinking outside the box - thats an easy conversion. its still basically running in a fwd setup. make it a 6 speed manual - i've done it! Changing one to a 6 speed is the easy part. I am saying that considering the 1gr came out in rwd format that it is quite easy and I would like to see you attempt the mr-s conversion since it is still a fwd. Edited July 15, 2013 by Trev
.T. Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 I never used any 1gr parts. I have used a non-aus spec 6 speed fwd box to mid mount a 2gr. rwd 2gr is actually quite a lot more work.
japlish Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 lol, have you seen how tall a 1GR is? no way it'll fit in a rolla/celica/supra.........
Trev Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 I was stating a ʞ©$ɟing fact and not basing it towards anyone, putting an engine into a car because it is the same orientation doesn't mean shit. It is the mountings you have to make to put it in.
japlish Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 i think what mr .T. was saying is that to mount a 2gr into a MR2 is a little easier than mounting a 2gr into RWD format, not because of the mounts but because of the bellhousing/starter setup.....why so angry? :)
Trev Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 i think what mr .T. was saying is that to mount a 2gr into a MR2 is a little easier than mounting a 2gr into RWD format, not because of the mounts but because of the bellhousing/starter setup.....why so angry? :) Because Mr T has obviously only done a 2gr SW20 engine swap, like how we have done several of and not put one in a MR-S like we currently are.
.T. Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 mate I have not done a 2gr into an mr2. (my 2gr converison I sold went into one though) following conversions I have done on mr2's: 3sge into aw11 1mz into aw11 4agze sc14 w/ w2a, 6 speed (with 1/2 shafts) into aw11 fyi I fitted the 2gr w/ 6 speed manual into the new bolwell nagari - somewhat more difficult than your mr-s I think...... Pretty sure MWR does engine mounts for your car though. Its certainly been done by them before
Trev Posted July 17, 2013 Report Posted July 17, 2013 mate I have not done a 2gr into an mr2. Pretty sure MWR does engine mounts for your car though. Its certainly been done by them before LOL at this guy. As stated, I was giving this guy a pat on the back to just go for it but you had to make out you were king shit. #1 aw11 engine conversions... Wait, isn't there mounts for that? #2 aw11 4agze with an sc14 and 6 speed? Umm where is the talent in this? I must be the man for doing a 20v aw11 then. #3 The Nagari is powered by a 2grfze or 2grfe already. So what did you achieve? #4 So because someone overseas has done the conversion then you think it will be easy to just buy the mounts and go ahead? We are a machine shop as well as a mechanical workshop and we do our own R&D and put it into a format where we can help others out, we don't just go half steal someone's idea. We also purchased a wrecked ZZW30 that we use as a jig for engine conversions etc. #5 I specialise in the MR-S, anything from diagnostics to 2zz and manually operated gearboxes, they don't call me Spyderman for no reason... #6 Funnily enough, if you type '2GR SW20' into google you will find that we have the most hits.
.T. Posted July 17, 2013 Report Posted July 17, 2013 you know what - this thread was about fitting a 2gr into a ke70, not about your engineering prowess in 2gr conversion into sw20's. you are too good for me, I must know nothing fyi there is no engine mount kit to fit a 3sge into an aw11 (plus i did the conversion about 10 years ago). & the 6 speed & sc14 does not just bolt into a aw11 either, but since you know everything, you would already be aware of that. oh in relation to #3 - what did I achieve? well since I actually build the car, I think I achieved a fair bit. give this thread back to timmo on his ke70 conversion, which is what my origional post was about - since I had a setup I was converting to rwd, I know what issues he was going to face (sorry about all this crap mate, I won't be posting in this thread again)
