Robert Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 My brakes in my KE55 are stuffed, when i push the brake pedal i can hear air being sucked in near the master cylinder. Is there any seals that should be replaced? or do i need to get a new one? If i do need to get a new one how much are they worth? Quote
thomo Posted March 5, 2006 Report Posted March 5, 2006 sounds like the diapham in the boosters gone, you can get reco units, or just a second hand one from the wrecker but because of the way the two halfs of the booster are joined its not a do it yourself job as a rule Quote
LINDSAY Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 (edited) i've found it's always better to get a new one or second hand, every time i put a kit through a master cylinder it never lasts that long , and there a pain in the arse to do! Edited March 6, 2006 by LINDSAY Quote
Robert Posted March 6, 2006 Author Report Posted March 6, 2006 I don't think its the diaphram in the booster because if that was the problem the brakes would work they would just be hard to push. Also there is brake fluid leaking out the back of the master cylinder. Does anyone know how much a new or recon master cylinder costs? Quote
Redwarf Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 Dude, Yellowpages are your friend. Try ABS or Checkpoint or even Repco. All of the above would also have kits to redo them, however, unless you have a honing tool, it can be a bit pointless rebuilding them. By what you're saying, It's knackered. Let your fingers do the walking. Quote
Robert Posted March 7, 2006 Author Report Posted March 7, 2006 Thanks Reddwarf Luckily i have access to a honing tool  Quote
