Hey guys

I currently have a ke70 and looking to put in the sleeka spares washer spaces. I have been told numerous things about having to appearantly get longer control arms and other bits and pieces. I know I will have to get a wheel alignment soon after.

Was just wondering if anyone could clarify about the longer Lcas or help with any other info.

Cheers

I've got lock spacers that i want to chuck in, i'm running ae86 coils, xt130 LCAs and shortened ae86 PS steering arms. i had to source some RA40 tie rod end tubes and tie rod ends to give me enough decent thread to hold onto the tie rods on full lock etc

heres some stuff(someone correct me if i'm wrong, i talk this alot but don't often write it haha)

xt130 lower control arms = 10mm extra track + (i got, it always seems to be different) -1 camber

to use these i needed to obtain two piece ra40 tie rods/tubes (bonus cos it means you can adjust toe without removing the tie rod ball joint from the steering arm as the threads are reversed on one side, instead of the thread being attached to the tie rod end)

ke70 steering arms will work with this set up. i am not sure tho how much extra lock you're going to get from only spacers.

**EDIT: i'd never seen this SLEEKA SPARES brand before, chucked ra40 tie rod tubes in to find a pic to show you what i mean and BAM, SLEEKA SPARES on ebay haha

** EDIT EDIT:

you need pics haha

How wide are the spacers and where do they go? If they operate on the same principle as the AJPS spacer you do not necessarily need longer arms. The spacer goes between the rack and ball joint, pushing the steering arms outward from the center line of the car. If anything you'll need to wind more thread into the rod ends to compensate if nothing else is changed.

However, it is a good time to do longer LCA's if you can. I used KE30 arms in mine which gives an extra 10mm a side. This would roughly cancel out the extra 20mm or so of the spacer. This also gives you a little more negative camber (or some if you don't have it at all), which is a good thing.

Can you link to any details of the product? This will allow us to be more specific.

Yeah cool. You don't need longer LCA's. The only thing you'll have to worry about it whether you can actually wind enough thread into the tie rod end so get the correct toe setting. You could probably measure this before installation. Measure the thickness of the washers. Then mark the thread going into the tie rod end that thickness out from the end of tie rod end. If it will wind in that much you're good. If not then you probably will need longer LCA's or tie rods.

I'm much rather use something like that that's probably accurately turned to the correct dimensions with parallel faces than a stack of washers from Bunnings.

This is one of those interfaces where failure isn't an option. For my money the AJPS setup is the best and is the only one I'd consider using. Plenty of thread engagement etc.

EDIT: Nevermind answering my own questions with google. ;)

There must be a rack end that will bolt on to achieve the same effect,. Off to the wreckers with a tape measure this weekend I think.

Or does the spacer actually feed back into the rack and the rack end acts as a stopper? I think I'm answering my own questions again, haha.

I understand now. Making sense.
