TOYOCOUPE Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 hey guys just wondering, has this ever been done before? really intrested in doing it Quote
TOYOCOUPE Posted June 11, 2013 Author Report Posted June 11, 2013 well their pretty cheap, good kw's, would be different. looks like it would fit, not sure bout gearbox Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 (edited) Ford (being the sensible people that they are) decided to stick to the same bellhousing pattern that they have stuck to since the 1960s. So for a rear wheel drive (RWD) application, you can use the Type-9 five speed box from the Sierra, plus an RS2000 bellhousing. One simply bolts to the other. Note: The Type 9 has a 1" 23-spline input shaft and the 2000E four speed box has a 7/8" 20-spline input shaft. The MT-75 (Granada) or T5 (Sierra Cosworth) gearboxs also fit on the Zetec. Â Zetec crankshafts are already machined to accept a RWD spigot bearing, which again simplifies things somewhat. Â http://www.zetecinsi...2/gearbox.shtml Edited June 11, 2013 by B.L.Z.BUB Quote
TOYOCOUPE Posted June 11, 2013 Author Report Posted June 11, 2013 cheers for the link man, looks like it would be an intresting conversion Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 cheers for the link man, looks like it would be an expensive conversion  I think the cost would outweigh the benefits but if its no worries how much you spend go for it. The fact you can RWD it with existing parts is a bonus but I wouldnt think RS2000 or Sierra parts would be easy or cheap to find in Aussie. Quote
Silverrr87 Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 I have a ztec turbo engine minus turbo and computer sitting in my shed at tweed heads. No idea if it runs or not, but if you want to try this conversion your free to take it. Just have to come get it. Quote
TOYOCOUPE Posted June 11, 2013 Author Report Posted June 11, 2013 haha id luv to but bit too far, just curious are we thinking of the same zetec? Quote
Redwarf Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 An associate has 2.3 one of these in a Mexico replica. Makes as much Hp as his BDA, and more reliably. Quote
Silverrr87 Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 Black top ford focus engine? It has a loom and a manifold but no turbo or computer. Was given to me, no idea of condition. Right now it's an ornament taking up space. Quote
TOYOCOUPE Posted June 11, 2013 Author Report Posted June 11, 2013 haha thats it, dam i wish u were in nsw Quote
Silverrr87 Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 Haha well it is in nsw, just. I thought about the conversion myself but already had an sr and the sr has been done before so I knew it could be done and parts wouldn't be a hassle. I'd be interested to see someone have a go at it though, so free engine for someone that wants to. Quote
