NZ_KE20 Posted June 10, 2013 Report Posted June 10, 2013 Have put ke55 discs into front of my 1971 ke20. Have got no pedal pressure, has to be pumped a few times to firm them up. Its older master cylinder type. Has anyone else done this conversion and had trouble? Ive read it could be my master cylinder being too small for the front calipers. They are girlocks. Any help much appreciated. Cheers. Quote
NZ_KE20 Posted June 12, 2013 Author Report Posted June 12, 2013 Yes I have bled the brakes, 3 seperate times. I have a feeling it must be the rear drums needing adjusting, will give it a try tonight. No leaks on the mater cylinder, doesnt use any fluid. Quote
NZ_KE20 Posted June 17, 2013 Author Report Posted June 17, 2013 Any help? Have adjusted the drums. Checked caliper seals etc no fluid has been lost over two days. Quote
GJM85 Posted June 18, 2013 Report Posted June 18, 2013 I did the conversion on my ke20. Had no issues. If there is absolutely no pedal pressure your definitely pushing fluid out somewhere or there is still air in the lines. Quote
jay_howie Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 You could try this to isolate the problem from front or back: take off the rear brake line from the master cylinder and blank it with a bolt or union blank of the same size, and then try using the brakes, you will soon know if its the rear drums. Basic troubleshooting starts by isolating parts of the system to work out which area you need to look into further. Hope that helps Quote
NZ_KE20 Posted July 2, 2013 Author Report Posted July 2, 2013 Well, it was right in front of me the whole time. The bleed valve was at 6 o clock on the right front. Cheers for all your help. Quote
