Medicine_Man Posted June 11, 2003 Report Posted June 11, 2003 Whats the official top speed figure for a 4K-C engine, how fast were they rated to go, anyone know an official figure? How fast have you wound your 4K-C out if you have one? Quote
Medicine_Man Posted June 12, 2003 Author Report Posted June 12, 2003 sounds like it could be right, f@$k doing the mathematics of it though, he he he Quote
irokin Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 found THIS link for lazy people (i.e. Medicine_Man) who can't use a calculator/brain :P j/k Quote
demuire Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Would also depend very much on shape of car (wind resistance), weight, type of tyres (rolling resistance) and some other things I can't think of right now. Oh yeah, also the tuning of your engine (whether you've tuned it for more torque down low or more power up high) My Corolla maxes out at about 130km/h on flat ground (just over 4000RPM) and about 140km/h downhill. I've however heard of other 4K-C Corollas maxing out at higher speeds. Quote
irokin Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 Yea Terminal Verlocity. The car may not be at its max RPM but the engine can't push it any faster (watch the V8s as they tear down conrod straight! I think they only make it to like 6500rpm...maybe a bit more but their redline is like up in the 8000s) 4K-Cs sound...weak! Ive had my rolla up to 130+ (85mph) with my old 4spd That was at about 5000rpm (can rev out to 6000) but it still felt strong. I have no idea what sorta speed I can do with the 5spd (speedo is outta wack). Quote
Medicine_Man Posted June 12, 2003 Author Report Posted June 12, 2003 Best speed I ever got was just shy of 160km/hr on a slight downhill grade.. Quote
Spanky Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 i would say go out there and find out for yourself :P Quote
Medicine_Man Posted June 12, 2003 Author Report Posted June 12, 2003 One of these days I'll have to take it down the 1/4  Quote
demuire Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 I got from about 80km/h to about 100km/h on the 570 meters or so down the front straight of QR. I doubt I'd go very fast on a 1/4... Quote
irokin Posted June 12, 2003 Report Posted June 12, 2003 I so DESPERATLY want to run mine at QR...but I need a new radiator b4 I can do anything like that! (And $60-90) Quote
Medicine_Man Posted June 13, 2003 Author Report Posted June 13, 2003 I'd love to see what I could open my beast out to on a track, just I'm scared I'd break something :P Quote
demuire Posted June 13, 2003 Report Posted June 13, 2003 just I'm scared I'd break something As am I, and I'm sure just about everyone else on this forum. But what's the point of owning a car if you're not going to *drive* it? At least we own Corollas, that are vaguely reliable, and cheap to fix :P And if you break something majorly (like I did my Lancer), it isn't THAT much of a loss. Not that you'll do that, cause 4K Corollas are too slow to really get you in any trouble anyway... Quote
Spanky Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 i'll give mine a whirl, i am sure it wouldn't be as exciting as in the ae86 though Quote
Medicine_Man Posted June 14, 2003 Author Report Posted June 14, 2003 If I had another car I wouldn't worry about it, still tossing up if I should just start another project car and leave my daily driver stock. It all comes down to the fact that I rely on my car heavily for work, I'd love nothing more than to strap around QR in my car... Quote
csx_seth Posted July 14, 2003 Report Posted July 14, 2003 speaking of top speed, any idea what the 4A-C would accomplish? i have had my AE82 up to 155 in 5th at about 4000rpm or something like that, i can't remember it was a while back. Quote
