I am new to the corolla world, had only hondas before. i recently bought an 81 corolla sedan with 3tc a40 3 speed automatic transmission. I also just bought a 79 corolla deluxe coupe that is a 2tc t40 4 speed manual. now i want to make my 4 door 81 into a manual by taking the t40 out of the 79 and putting it in the 81' 4 door. Will it bolt right up or whats the deal? any help is much appreciated because i don't know a d**m thing THE 81 SEDAN IS A TE72 AND THE 79 DELUXE COUPE IS TE31

Well, I haven't worked on a T-series, but if you check 'The Girl's KE70' build you can see what is generally needed.

I bought a donor manual car and sold it on after I'd taken the gearbox & pedalbox out. The driveshaft I had to get modified as the gearbox nose was different between manual & auto.

The earlier K-series cars have the same gearboxes with different tailshaft ends, so the gearlever comes up in a different place, as I found with the auto & manual. I don't know if your T will be the same.

Overall it was simple but time-consuming and made a great difference.
