BillisAwesomeKE70 Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 Just wondering would it legal to run my ke70 on the street without bumpers?? Quote
ke70dave Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 It's probably the quickest way to get yourself pulled over as well. Quote
altezzaclub Posted May 6, 2013 Report Posted May 6, 2013 ...which is strange. It is only of a detriment when someone runs into you at 5kph and your car gets more damage without bumpers than with. At 60kph they just transmit the shock to the chassis and bend that a little more. I can't see them helping any pedestrian either.. and only the chrome ones look OK, the black ones were a world-wide period of absolute ugliness started by America. Still, in a tyranny you are stuck with the rules. Quote
BillisAwesomeKE70 Posted May 7, 2013 Author Report Posted May 7, 2013 Yeah I thought it would be illegal I guess the only way around the ugly things is getting chrome onrs Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 7, 2013 Report Posted May 7, 2013 Yeah I thought it would be illegal I guess the only way around the ugly things is getting chrome onrs People have been known to shorten the black ones. Look half decent once done. Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted May 7, 2013 Report Posted May 7, 2013 Bumpers are also designed to be first point-of-contact in a pedestrian impact - they are at a height to hit around the knee area and ensure that the pedestrian lands on the bonnet rather than getting dragged under the car. No bumpers would most likely mean hip-level contact which is much worse. Plus, there are a lot of sharp edges exposed when you take bumpers off Quote
ke70dave Posted May 7, 2013 Report Posted May 7, 2013 yeah its a bit inconsistant since you are allowed to drive this around http://www.thesupercars.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/dodge-ram-2500jpg.jpg First point of contact is steel to the face. Quote
altezzaclub Posted May 7, 2013 Report Posted May 7, 2013 Often the rules only apply to cars, not vans, utes, trucks, SUVs etc. That's why there has been such growth in those markets as manfacturers tried to dodge regulations over the last 20years. Can we squeeze on some better-looking plastic ones off the FWDs that followed us?? Quote
