Rolla-Man Posted April 27, 2013 Report Posted April 27, 2013 hey guys will putting Extractors on my 4k-c motor in my ke70 give me much more power? what else can i do to get just that bit more out of it? Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted April 27, 2013 Report Posted April 27, 2013 Yes, but only if you add a better exhaust at the same time. don't expect 'OMG ITS LIKE A TURBO' power increases but there will be a SMALL increase in power. Add a cam grind, a carbie, some basic head work and you'll get it pretty peppy but nothing amazing. Quote
philbey Posted April 27, 2013 Report Posted April 27, 2013 I would go as far to say; not really. Even with an exhaust, you'll still have the same amount of slows but will feel faster because you ear-dyno tells you it's faster! But chuck on the cams and carb upgrade, now you're talking. Quote
altezzaclub Posted April 28, 2013 Report Posted April 28, 2013 lol- philbey is right! The ear-dyno is all that matters! Note how everyone said new 'exhaust' when you asked about new 'extractors'?? The extractors will cost you $200-250 for new 4-into-1 style that terminate in a 2" pipe. Then add the cost of a 2" pipe into a 2" resonator under the passenger's floor, then a complete 1.75" pipe and muffler to the back. The exhaust cost me $350 on top of the extractors.. Works well and sounds nice. It goes with the twin SU carbs and the Crow cam, with a head skim and a bit of port machining. Its nothing compared to any modern car, but it is how the 4K should have come out! Plan the whole rebuild and modification job you want to do over the next year or two, and decide what you can afford. Then work out the order of doing stuff, as some of it means engine out and some is just a bolt-on. Quote
Rolla-Man Posted April 28, 2013 Author Report Posted April 28, 2013 Thanks guys really looking forward to doing up my ke70 :) Quote
benhachi Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 just a quick question guys.. ive been on the hunt for a while and can't find a set of extractors for my k engine. Nothing on ebay or here at the moment, where do you find a set? (QLD) Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 Look harder. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Toyota-Corolla-KE20-25-30-35-55-70-Rear-Wheel-Drive-Extractors-Header-New-/261208004936?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3cd135d948&_uhb=1 Quote
styler Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 Tuned is the only way to go, but custom made can be expensive. Quote

Hiro Protagonist Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 Stroker kit? They make those for K motors? Isn't that just called a 7K? :P Quote
altezzaclub Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 You reckon it will still rev OK with a stroker kit?? I don't suppose it matters unless you're on the track at 7500rpm all the time. Quote
ke70dave Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 Tomorrow I'm going to install some 4-1 extractors on my little suzuki 1.3L and just weld it up to the biggest muffler i can find at the wreckers. So ill tell you if it makes any difference. I suspect it will make no difference, appart from looking cool in my engine bay:D (and for $40 + welding wire, thats good enough for me!) Quote

Have to agree i put extractors and 2'' on my 20 didn't really make much difference feels a little less choked thats about it Quote
altezzaclub Posted May 10, 2013 Report Posted May 10, 2013 bigger cam stroker kit and extractors with a 2'' exhaust thru to sports muffler What carb are you chasing to go with this setup?? Can you find a 32/36 Weber downdraught, or even better a single DCOE Weber?? That will make a big difference once you have the exhaust and cam in. Quote
