CarnegieCustoms Posted April 7, 2013 Report Posted April 7, 2013 (edited) This is my ke10 I picked up today, a lady from the high school I went to got in contact with me (now I'm 18 and finished school) and offered me the car, she noticed the love I had for cars back in high school and when she thought about getting rid of this "old car taking up space on her farm " she thought of me, all she could tell me over the phone was it was a one of the first Toyotas off the production line, I went and checked it out and when I saw it was a ke10 I was very keen, she offered it to me late last year but its taken me till now to pick it up ( trying to find time amongst finishing other projects and work), the body if fairly straight just a few dints, front apron needs to be fixed and a little bit of rust, the interior is shot and has rats living in it :bash: the motor was running 3 years ago, turns over and splutters, it will need a rebuild, there's a lot of work to be done but I like a challenge !!, right now my plans are to restore it back to original, on the other hand am very tempted to modify it and make it something different because you don't see many of these around anymore, either way ill post pics of my progress, let me know what you think. Cheers !! Edited April 7, 2013 by CarnegieCustoms Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted April 7, 2013 Report Posted April 7, 2013 Very nice score! From the dash I'd say she's a 68. Looks like everything is there which is a great start. Quote
orangeLJ Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 Nice! reasonably rare too really. Like 67Rolla-Ken said above, having it near-complete is half the battle with any project, so you're winning there already. Quote
PHATKE20S Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 May i suggest 5K (1.5L) from KM36 Liteace...should bolt straight in there & definately a cheap power upgrade from original K (1.1L)....Also try KE30/55 5speed for quiter highway running but whatever you do try not to cut up the original Centre Console because they are Very Rare... airocobra Posted April 11, 2013 Report Posted April 11, 2013 Hi mate , I am a fellow Canberra guy . I am restoring a KE15 SPRINTER. I have not started in ernst yet , still collecting bits and have a AE86 roadie to complete 1st. My 1st rally car some 30years ago was a KE10 ( had a few ) . If I can help you in any way let me know , will have some left over parts when I get started etc etc . , so might be able to help out there. My KE15 will be a back to bare metal rebuild (will take a while ). Going to keep it close to original as I want to put it on historic rego (a lot cheaper ). I live in WESTON CREEK area . Quote
