Hey all,

I've got a little KE26 wagon. The engine is currently on it's way out, and i want to set it up as a sleeper. I've been doing some research on which way to go with this, but as you might expect, there isn't heaps of info around on stuffing a hot little engine in there.

I want to put in a turbo engine, or at least something powerful to start with. I don't really know what options I have. I'm not looking at redesigning the whole engine bay of the car, so I was wondering was engines would be somewhat 'bolt in' in terms of engine mounts. It's got a 3K in the car at the moment, so i was wondering if keeping with the K series engine is a good path to follow, or whether I might as well go for something later model.

Any ideas, suggestions or experience would be great!

Thanks a heap,

Clancy

p.s don't mind the flames, that was from when i was a kid ;)

Identical.

Sorry if that sounded harsh but we here on RC constantly hear the 'I've done heaps of re/searching and couldnt find anything" .

Have a read here, you can get a bit out of a K motor, lots of people have turbo'd them.

And some info on boosted K motors here.

How much money do you have??

How much of a conversion engineer are you??

What do you want to do with it afterwards?? Drive it to work? Only use it on weekends and friday night??

In othe words, can you afford $9000 for a different motor or a turbo setup, can you manage to convert it, and do you want it driveable in everyday traffic.

Those questions will set up your answer.

I've considered this for my ke26 also.

My decision is to turbo the 4K in it ( One of the cheapest alternatives ). Seem's like you will have to replace the engine if you want to turbo as yours is tired. There's a guy on here that sells 4AGE- ke2X engine mounts. How much you are willing to do yourself will make or break it.

I did a 3TGEU conversion to a ke20 the engine cost me $1500 and because i did all the work myself the whole job cost me $2000, If you paid someone to do that it would be atleast $5000
