ke20rolla1971 Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 Hi People, In my carport sits a very original Ke20 Corolla. Gotta decide now whether to build it and keep, which means donating the VL Calais to my daughter as a parts car, or selling the rolla. Nearly everything works.! The car had sat for 12 months when I picked it it up so a little freeze up in the brakes. Cleared up after a few km's It now drives like I'd expect an original Ke20 to. The boot lid is damaged (easily reparable) and she has the usual 'pop out' dents aroumd. There is one serious rust spot on the drivers side edge of the windscreen but I think repairable The rest is surface. Open to reasonable offers. Pics to come Pete Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted March 19, 2013 Report Posted March 19, 2013 Is this for sale, because if it is it needs to be in the sales section and it needs to have a price. Quote
ke20rolla1971 Posted March 21, 2013 Author Report Posted March 21, 2013 Ok, sorry if I put this in the wrong section. Car is not for sale at this stage. I was just after a bit of feedback as to other members thoughts on which way to go. Clearly the Calais has more creature comforts and goes harder but that comes with a hefty price tag called fuel bill and maintenance issues. Leaning towards the Corolla at present cuz it's already proved so easy to work on and it'll run on the exhaust emmisions of the Calais. Quote
oldie Posted March 21, 2013 Report Posted March 21, 2013 Hi,guess it really depends on what you want from the car,if your into road trips, cruising, comfort etc guess Id keep the VL.If you want classic, rusty, noisy, small and often needing work (maybe),then the corolla.Stuff it,keep them both and just enjoy them for what they are! ke20rolla1971 Posted March 25, 2013 Author Report Posted March 25, 2013 Thx for your reply. I'm on a disability pension so not much cash to spend on my passion (cars). Having said that I love working on cars when results can be seen. My daughter has one of the prettiest (Non standard) VL 6cyl Auto Calais around. We had to replace a fuel injector the other week and it took about 4 hours. In less than 3 hours I fitted new points, Fixed the accelerator pump jet (Blocked) I removed the radiator, front bumper, grille, battery holder, lower skirt panel (rusted) . Toyota where clever in the early models. Decision is made, I'm building the Corolla. My daughter and I are considering keeping Brudis ( My Calais) on the road. I'll update as the Rolla improves Quote
