ke20rolla1971 Posted March 15, 2013 Report Posted March 15, 2013 Hi All, I have become the proud and happy owner of a 1971 ke20 Corolla. For starters, I'm a 52 yr old male with a physical disability but my passion is cars. 30 years ago I was rallying a Datsun1600 at club level in Vic. Then played with Bluebirds, and finally a 240k speedway car in Alexandra Vic. Did that take some sorting! Anyway, to the newly aquired pocket rocket. Picked it up on a permit and drove it the 2km's home. Had'nt been moved for 12 months. After a bit of a run the brakes freed up, and with a quick (by ear) tune up she's running fine. So Question?... How do I get the dash panel out? Need to rerplace the high beam globe and fix the temp gauge? Any help would be so appreciated. Pete. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted March 15, 2013 Report Posted March 15, 2013 I've never owned a KE20 so can't help but welcome to the forum Pete. :y: I'm sure someone will have the info you need. Whats the issue with the temp gauge, not working at all or fluctuating readings? Quote
ke20rolla1971 Posted March 16, 2013 Author Report Posted March 16, 2013 Temp gauge doesn't work at all. I've earthed out the wire at the sender and nothing so I am assuming the problem is in the dash Quote
GJM85 Posted March 16, 2013 Report Posted March 16, 2013 Have you replaced the sender? There's a possibility its an original 42 year old piece of corroded brass your counting on. Quote

Oh my Goodness, she might be 42 years old but what a fun car to play with, Funny that a bit of 100kph on a gravel road (some of it sideways) seems to have cured the temp gauge issue. I suspect that he needle was a bit sticky (spider webs maybe). Has anyone looked at Victorian Speedway Clubs junior class? 90% of the class is ke20 - ke55 corolla's and the kids make em fly.Sometimes more entertaining than the more senior racers Quote
