kickn5k Posted February 13, 2014 Report Posted February 13, 2014 What's this A/R business Luke??? You do know we are a metric country? My two gauges arrived today(so much for 6 week wait!). Catch you Sunday. Keen to hear some induction!! Quote
carbonboy Posted February 13, 2014 Author Report Posted February 13, 2014 I thought I was speaking metric...8.0 is plug-fouling rich & 22.0 is engine exploding lean if that helps? :P Quote
carbonboy Posted February 15, 2014 Author Report Posted February 15, 2014 The legacy of rubbing remains. Fine, Plan B it is then. Just a tad more discrete too. Test-drive soon to see how it sounds, should be at CC&D tomorrow morning too! :D Quote
carbonboy Posted February 15, 2014 Author Report Posted February 15, 2014 (edited) The test drive went well, still has the boxer-engine burble but is sooooo much quieter now, my housemates inform me that the house no longer shakes when I have it running. I wired in a resistor between the MSD tachometer feed & the standard tachometer wire, needle continues to sit at 0 rpm. *sigh* I guess I'm stuck having to buy the MSD Tach-Adapter, considering its cost, it can wait. Also adjusted the speedometer, still reading about 7km/h on the high-side so needs another tweak. Edit: Also wound out the idle mixture screws on the carburetors from 2 to 2.5 turns, has a much nicer idle & running a bit leaner too. Edited February 15, 2014 by carbonboy Quote
carbonboy Posted February 16, 2014 Author Report Posted February 16, 2014 Well the drive out to CC&D today wasn't much fun, it did highlight just how crap these tyres are though. Raining, just enough revs to stop it stalling & gently letting the clutch out still resulted in massive amounts of wheel-spin. Can't say I've ever broken traction by squeezing the throttle in fourth gear at 70km/h in this car before either. Those Toyos are going on ASAP. Photos courtesy of silverra23. Quote

parrot Posted February 17, 2014 Report Posted February 17, 2014 If you look at it from the right angle (standing on your head whilst having your testicles squeezed) you could almost swear it was a Gulf GT40. As in ford, not Bosch. Quote
carbonboy Posted February 18, 2014 Author Report Posted February 18, 2014 I want to do it for the laughs from watching people getting upset, especially fans of a certain German marque. I don't want to do it because of the attention I would most likely receive from some vehicles with a certain colour scheme of their own. Quote
Mark90 Posted February 18, 2014 Report Posted February 18, 2014 If you do it don't use exports lol Quote
carbonboy Posted February 19, 2014 Author Report Posted February 19, 2014 I'm now actually thinking vinyl wrap, how good of a job it is doesn't matter since it would only be temporary. I'm willing to do it for a laugh, but not permanently. After the last week (hell, more like 6 months really) I've come to the conclusion that life's too short, make it interesting. On the 7th of March I'm going (legal, off-street) drag racing, if Blue Thing runs a 14.999 seconds or faster quarter mile, the colour scheme will be the next modification for one round of the 2014 VMC. I'll be running in motorkhana-spec (minimal interior & semi-slicks) so don't got thinking I'll half-arse it to avoid the colour-scheme change. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 So sub 15 = madness. I've always loved the orange/blue contrast. I have been thinking about doing some crazy colour on my wheels with Plastidip. If you go sub 15 you can choose the colour. Quote
