Heath. Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 Hey guys. 4age build is going well. My parts pile is growing and the. Again so is the bill! Haha My latest snag is the alternator. Now i got a band spanka today from repco. The usless @unts sent the wrong one. Must be for a later modle as it didny fit into or over my altenator braket! Anyway my question is. Where would be the best place to go? Or what others would fit my motor? (Import) 4age Bigport, 16v. (From ae82) Quote
rian Posted February 18, 2013 Report Posted February 18, 2013 Take the alternator back to Repco. Make sure you get a 4AGE alternator, any 16v 4AGE alternator should fit but don't waste your time trying to make 4AFE, 7AFE, 4AC etc alternators fit, and don't waste your time trying to "RWD" your alternator either. Also, if Repco can't figure it out then get in contact with Golberg off AE86DC, he sells genuine Denso alternators: http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/showthread.php/74048-Genuine-Remanufactured-Denso-Alternators-amp-Starters Quote
parrot Posted February 19, 2013 Report Posted February 19, 2013 And check your plug. The one on your loom is probably round. Later alternators had oval plugs, and with a repco application list, who knows what you may get! Quote
Heath. Posted February 19, 2013 Author Report Posted February 19, 2013 Alright well ... I have looked around, got onto ebay, spoke to my old man and it seems i have to options... 1. Get one off ebay. Same plug hole and the mounting hole i guess you can call it? Looks like it could fit all mad. But I'm not sure on the brand :S (price $70) 2. The old man said there is a fee places round my area (mansfield) that sell altenators. A guy along creek road some where.. And another dude at stones corner. (Price 165 and up) Quote
Taz_Rx Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 Do you have an 'Ashdown Ingram' in your area? If so go and see them, I have no doubt they will be a lot more helpful than your local repco. Quote
ke70dave Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 Pretty much anythign will be more helpful than your local repco. Have you tried jsut putting a WTB on all the forums you can find? 50bucks should cover a 25yr old alternator. even if you can find a stuffed one, getting it reco'd shoudl cost you ~$150 or so. Quote
Heath. Posted February 25, 2013 Author Report Posted February 25, 2013 Actually my boss was talking about that place. I might do that. Thanks for the help guys. Quote
