supra2 Posted October 16, 2013 Author Report Posted October 16, 2013 Thanks Snot. Carlos, your a funny man. Which Cortina do you have? Roll cage finished. Quote
BUZ440 Posted October 16, 2013 Report Posted October 16, 2013 The only one you ever need to own http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/67499-my-1966-mk1-cortina/page__pid__669264#entry669264 Quote
supra2 Posted October 18, 2013 Author Report Posted October 18, 2013 Nice work Carlos. Will it have a green strip up the side? Getting ready for the new dash brace to mount the race dash panel. Quote
snot35 Posted October 23, 2013 Report Posted October 23, 2013 I could be wrong, but you've removed the V shaped cross brace that is behind the back seat upright. Big tank? Quote
supra2 Posted October 23, 2013 Author Report Posted October 23, 2013 No, standard tank. Just removed for weight. The cage and rear firewall will more than make up for any strength that maybe lost. Quote
snot35 Posted October 23, 2013 Report Posted October 23, 2013 Fair enough, it's such a spindly little bit of metal! Quote
supra2 Posted October 25, 2013 Author Report Posted October 25, 2013 I think its only there to stop the back seat falling into the boot. New alloy rear fire wall fitted. Quote
Boosted Posted October 25, 2013 Report Posted October 25, 2013 Plenty of silicone in between to make it liquid proof ? Quote
supra2 Posted October 25, 2013 Author Report Posted October 25, 2013 Hi Mika, Yep, still have to fully seal it up. A flame and liquid proof barrier is what the regs require. And it will be. Silly thing is, there is no requirement to seal the inside of the C pillar. If the car is rolled onto its roof and there is a fuel leak, it runs up the inside the C pillar and ends up pooling on the roof under your head, not good if your trapped. I always like to seal the C pillar as well with expander foam. It wont stop fuel for long but it does slow it down and it stops the general fuel and exhaust fumes that seem to get into striped out race cars. Quote
Boosted Posted October 27, 2013 Report Posted October 27, 2013 20/20 Hindsight and all, but would have been neater to apply the sika between the sheets before riveting them together. If you had access to one, a bead roller would have given a bit more form to the firewall and stopped it from vibrating as much. It'll be a big wobble board now, still won't be able to hear it over the stones though, so doesn't matter that much. Quote
supra2 Posted October 27, 2013 Author Report Posted October 27, 2013 They wont vibrate, can't really see it in the photo, the panels are not flat. Quote
snot35 Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 Looking good! That's on my list of things to do for my car. Did you use anything fancy sealer wise? Quote
