nerfbat Posted February 23, 2013 Author Report Posted February 23, 2013 so, the problem was an easy fix. the points screw had worked itself loose and they had shut.... very lucky we found it before the screw may have fallen out, and into the moving parts of the dizzy.. set the dwell, and bought a proper GT40T coil, and she is all good now i then rang Ian at Muffler Kings, and got a new exhaust fitted, identical to this one, she was on the hoist beside me, lol, an import he started this one up, its sounded tough, but subtle, and i liked that. as i also figured in a moke, it would be louder than the mini, 'inside' Quote
nerfbat Posted February 23, 2013 Author Report Posted February 23, 2013 (edited) removing the old exhaust Ian gets her up on the hoist, while there, we check the underside, and take a few snaps another shot of the front end the only shot of my exhaust after picking her up, sorry was in such a rush to get into her, lol last shot before i put her away for the night went for a cruise after my redundancy party late yesterday arvo. today i have to run one of the wheels down for a valve replaced, as the steel ones tend to leak, and i asked, at the time to replace them, but they didnt, saying they were fine..... so now i am off to get it replaced to hopefully fix it so, after picking up the car from Rodney Hansen's, he said the steering could do with a rebuild, and the brake and clutch, in the pedal box, sticks, probably from sitting for so long, so i booked her in for march 18 to get them rebuilt, and get some HiLows and new lower 'knuckles' fitted. should drive like a limo then :-) also, Mark from Terry Wilkie smash repairs said he could do a full respray for me, for around the $1,500 mark, any colour(within reason) so, i may do that over winter fingers crossed, i will be taking her on her maiden long journey to Warwick Raceway this weekend to cheer on Rodney, in his mini thanks for your time Edited March 9, 2013 by nerfbat Quote

nerfbat Posted March 1, 2013 Author Report Posted March 1, 2013 so, this is what i did this arvo in the break from the rain took off the Roll Bar and put in some lap sash seat belts. i love Willy's look, low and fat.. going to trial it for a week in this girl and see if i like it thoughts? Quote
nerfbat Posted March 2, 2013 Author Report Posted March 2, 2013 lol fo sho..! wish this dammn rain would stop so i could clean her and take some decent pics Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted March 12, 2013 Report Posted March 12, 2013 Inspiration ??? This thing had a big wood burner on the rear, it cooked the wood which released a gas which was then filtered on board with some weird water filter, once you had the Moke up to speed you opened a valve and the filtered gas would run it. Trippy. The guy reckoned he'd get 100km per 'tank' which he would fill with firewood bags that you get at servos. All just a bit of fun and a personal project, definitely something different. Quote
nerfbat Posted March 21, 2013 Author Report Posted March 21, 2013 leg wasnt too bad today so i took the old girl for a spin gonna get stuck into the body and paint when i feel up to it Quote
orangeLJ Posted March 22, 2013 Report Posted March 22, 2013 No matter how many times you see a moke, they never look like they should be road legal hahaha. just looks like they got halfway through designing the thing and all went home for tea, came back the next day and moved on to something else. lol. Part of the appeal I spose, what are the seats like to ride in? looks like theyd get a bit uncomfy after a while Quote
nerfbat Posted March 22, 2013 Author Report Posted March 22, 2013 (edited) totally agree mate i recently had a guy parked next lane from me at lights, abuse me saying to ''get that thing off the road..!" "there is no way that is legal" i said it had plates and smiled at him. he drove off in a huff. off duty transport guy, or cop? nfi, but i laughed as for the seats mate, i was worried the same, but they are suspended, like a hammock, so your body is floating, and rather comfortable. I'm sure on a long drive, the padding would squash and it may get a tad uncomfortable hey, Orange, i found you on another rather well respected forum too, mate at least i assume it was you going by some of your posts there, you know your stuff :-D Edited March 22, 2013 by nerfbat Quote
nerfbat Posted March 24, 2013 Author Report Posted March 24, 2013 took the moke to my call out at work this arvo. didnt see the clouds til i got there the box has all my plush toys in it for the claw machines went in, fixed some machines, and came out to pouring rain.... to make the best out of the situation, i put on my aviator helmet, steam punk goggles, and went for a cruise, in the rain..! loved it plans tomorrow are to pull the 'dash' out, tighten up whatever is making a rattle in there whenever the engine is on, redo the black paint on the dash pieces and refit tidy up the exterior paint, with a buff, or 2000grit wet and dry(still unsure which way to go), still researching best option thanks for your time Quote
