hey guys. semi new here and though I'd share my rolla with the rest of you.

I love making threads up of my cars, did it for the last car (fiori) on the MCM forum but sadly hardly anyone cared.

so around a month ago I bought a ke70 off a follow member. It was stock as balls, just what I wanted as I knew these cars where hard to get for <$1000 and it only had minor damage.

reason behind buying it was that my R31 skyline was using up 12-15L per 100km around town and in traffic so I needed something jdm and more fuel efficient before tafe starts in feb.

ended up getting a permit from qld transport to drive it home, was pretty funny when the battery was stuffed and stalled it without leaving the guys driveway :/ awkwarddddddd!

drove it from sothside to westside in late arvo traffic, it was running a little crap so I had to drive it home with the choke on a bit. got within 5km of home and stopped off at maccas with some mates...

NEK MINIT about to park the car, put in the choke (didnt know it was on the whole way lol) and the revs just died and it stalled going over a speed bump... awesome....

so ended up push starting it in the carpark with many people wondering what the hell was going on. (battery had no life in it). mass push later it started up again and let it idol in the car park while we had a fat feed and drove it home.

it was sitting next to my skyline in the driveway for a few days, so dam eager to drive it! I did some work on the engine, changed the plugs, leads, points and a few other things that came with the car and what my grandad gave me from his spare parts shed. also picked up a front grill off another guy off the fb trade page for $30. not bad

while I was waiting to choose how to fix that damage I found some fake/cheezy meshies on boost for $60, not bad, same with 2 tyres on em that where semi slicks, hard to skid :( but the paint on them was rubbish so I painted them orange for a fresh look ;) could do with some more paint cos close up you can see its not a good job but hardly notice.

IMAG0422.jpg

looked around, couldnt get any rubbish legal tyres from any tyre places so ended up finding some 175/60/15's off ebay for $70 that where about 85% tread so that was a bargain. got them put on and looks overrated, cept the need to be balanced and whatnot.

so my mate at supercheap gave me the lowdown on what bog I needed, bought a 500g fiberglass tub and bought a sander from bunnings and sanded the crap out of it to get it ready for bog.

IMAG0429.jpg

the rear door had damage so I ended up swapping it with the spare that came with the car. also came with a new rear quarter but I'm not professional to cut and reweld it on so bog was the way!

First time bogging... wasnt too bad really, lucky I had a detail machine sander to save me time sanding each coat back!

IMAG0430.jpg

IMAG0435.jpg

late night doing hourly sand and rebog.

IMAG0437.jpg

and basically all done (was just before before or after my last bogging (touch ups)

IMAG0440.jpg

So I went down to mitre10 to hit up some paint with the paint code from the engine bay but they said they didnt do it, and I knew supercheap and repco didnt and I was nearly broke again and didnt want to spend 45mins driving to other side of town to autobarn so ended up getting cream spray paint, wasnt cheapie crap and I was trying to match it with pics from my phone and well... I was wrong... very wrong...

so it was basically ready for the roady. I knew If I took it somewhere expensive they would pick on stupid problems, ended up going back to where I got the tyres fitted at a small servo ran by some italians and they did a roady for $66!! they court me out on the rear brake thing in the drum leaking (didnt know it was happening) so they replaced that as they didnt wanna risk getting sued by me if my brakes failed...

they also found a small leak coming from the gearbox/engine part where they join, it wasnt major but I talked my way out of it saying how I wasnt gonna use the car and I'm broke and I would 'fix it myself next week ;)' and they also high pressure hosed my engine bay while I was off getting the papers sorted with qld transport.

pics of it getting fixed up!

IMAG0448.jpg

YEAH BUDDY ON THE ROAD! keen as

IMAG0451.jpg

that fantastic moment when I had rego for this due less then a month before my skylines rego... $320 + $420 every 6 months in rego... with no good paying part time job and starting tafe... yeah this is going to be fun to pay off while spending all my money on mods and fuel... zzz

Havn't done much to it since then, over xmas I picked up a extremely long... used.... shifter.... ;) came off some guys r32 that he was semi-stripping for more parts, just a tad big bro.

thats it for today, theres a few other pics and stuff I was gonna write about but if you made it this car then you deserve a break today :)

Love the cheap fix-ups! Do you have a spare body or just spare bits??

also came with a new rear quarter but I'm not professional to cut and reweld it on so bog was the way!

Its not hard to drill all the spotwelds out, just time-consuming. They make a special drill bit for it, ones with a spike in the end, and you just grab an old flat-blade screwdriver to knock in gently around the weld and split the panels. So it you have the spare body you could take the whole 1/4panel off in your spare time and fit it later.

If you're lucky you'll run into some keen young guy at TAFE doing spray-painting and he'll set you up for a complete respray. Its not hard for you to sand it all back and prep it, you just need someone good with a gun to make it look great.

it came with a rear cut quarter and both drivers side doors. and yeah I would sand it back anyday for a respray but I'm too lazy and broke but to be honest it doesnt bother me the way it was, I just keep thinking to myself its just a $700 run around car so I have money to fix up my skyline for the drifts.

Try and find this paint, its the closest off the shelf beige paint I have found.

Check out the rear wheel arch, you can see I've done a little touch up. Its a bit darker. I reckon if you did a whole panel it'd match up pretty good.

Time for a bit of an update.

Ive been so busy working on the R31 lately trying to get it ready for QR drifts that the ke really isnt getting worked on atm.

not sure If I have pics but got a mate round to help install and swap springs with the spare set I picked up, worked on it for around 2 hours and gave us as we found out the strut and disk/hub is all in one which we didnt feel like going to all the effect for but when I get a spare weekend after TAFE starts ill probs drop it 1 1/2 coils all round so it looks less of a 4WD.

ended up taking it out to Downshift for the 2nd time, was meant to take out the 31 but didnt finish in time and it was already started so no time for a clean but took the rolla out and got a few looks...

Fun thing to add... the bonnet has damage so I'm not worried about it getting a little worse, I jumped onto at downshift to prove a point to my mate and it didnt do anything, tough little rollas!

Before I forget I installed some logitec speakers into the car as I don't want to spend $150+ on a stereo and speakers. I don't have pics but ill throw them up in the morning when I have some light to take them in. I know a some of you will find it quite interesting.

I'm getting ~ 200km on ~ 1/2 tank... ($10 - 100-120km) not sure If this good or bad but its using half the fuel my skyline would use which I'm happy about. Thinking of cleaning the carby ansd trying to tune it myself before I start my traffic crawling from westside to north/east side of town... whats everyone else getting in their stock 4k?

little 2am edit on my phone of when I bought it and after it was on the road... hopefully if tafe doesnt take up a ton of time ill start working on this little fella over the next few weeks and get my thread on a roll.
