hey all ,

 

just trying to gather abit of info on Conversions and general info on the Ke55's .

 

I have read through alot and i mean alot of threads to find out as much as possible but nothing realy sticks out telling me what i need.

 

So my question is

 

For a 1979 Ke55

 

1. What would be the best choice to convert engine wise for best power / fuel econemy .

2. How much am i roughly looking at to swap an engine .. if i do the work / if i give it to a mechanic to fit.

3. What is the easiest conversion to do - Not having to mod to many things like mounts and what not.

 

 

Any Tips & Suggestions are extremely help full and i shall appreciate it alot :)

Put a 5K in, it all bolts in.

Depends what mods you do and how you drive it.

I intend on Putting a nice CAI in and then Extractors with 2 ... 2.5" sports exhaust. they are the main pices of this puzzle I'm trying to put together :P 3

Well the 5k is 200cc larger than the 4k you have now. With those mods your probably looking at 10L/100k depending on your driving style.

I got mine for $300, I havent been keeping an eye on 5K prices since I've gone 4AGE though.

Whats the difference between a 5k and 4age ?

5k is OHV, carbied 1.5L

4AGE is DOHC fuel injected 1.6L

 

5k will work with everything in the car you have now, pretty much plug in and play.

anything else will need engine mount, box mount, hydraulic clutch, tailshaft, wiring (ECU) etc

Ahhh ok ..... if i were to decide to put a 4age in like you , how much am i looking at to put it in ? and since you have one do you have a guide or thread on how ?
