Price For Reconditioned Radiator

just a quick question,

i was thinking of getting my radiator reconditioned due to my ke38 keeps overheating, i was just wondering how much am i looking at and is it worth it? or should i just buy a new one. any help would be grateful.

They will probably recore yours. Go for a three row one. About $300 or so, but that was a couple of years ago

ohh bit pricey for this point in time, would a recore do the job for a little while? if i do end up splashing out and getting a three row where do you recommend to get one from? thanks for the help by the way :D

Have you done all the other things to make sure there isnt a basic easy to fix problem.

Reverse flush, coolant flush, make sure there are no air pockets etc? Sure there isnt a HG leak?

yeah the older radiators are all metal, not plastic end tanks.

 

much much MMUUUCCH better, but they cost heaps to buy and cost heaps to fix.

well ive reversed flushed it, new thermostat, new temperature sensor, new waterpump, flushed all the coolant, new radiator cap.. i don't know how to make sure theres any air pockets though.. is that where you start it on a hill with the radiator cap off or something?

Yeah. Just making sure, some people just jump to the bung radiator conclusion. You can get cheap 2 core Aluminium rads on eBay for $150, I have one on my 4AGE KE70 and the temp guage hardly moves.

oh sweet, i was actualy gonna ask about buying a radiator off ebay.. wasnt sure of quality etc etc..

My first ke35 used to overheat chronicly I got the radiator overhauled for $90. The temp gauge never exceeded 1/3 and ran awesome. I will highly recommend getting it done in regards to the process of elimination to overheating. don't waste you time, recode your radiator mine was 75% blocked

I had my ke16 rad recored with a 3 core at natrad for $250,

take it out and take it down to natrad and get them to pull the tanks off and clean it etc

I had a copper brass one made cause they didnt sell it whole any more but they could get cores and tanks seperately. They ordered the bits and made a stock copper brass radiator for me, and its been great.

 

Cost $300 but.

I swapped the bloke at a local radiator joint my absolutey shagged out MS112 crown.. Even threw in the mice in the engine bay for free, in return for my radiator reco in the ke26.. So yeah.. I suppose $250-$300 would be about right hahah

I had mine reconditioned for about 90. They pull off the tanks and clean out the tubes in the core, then resolder it all and pressure test it.
