gilly40k Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 I have a stock 4afe I want to get the ports done polished and bigger and over sized valves but I want to know will I need bigger injectors or any thing like that Quote
gilly40k Posted October 15, 2012 Author Report Posted October 15, 2012 Could not find a 4age so and the ones I found where asking $1500 just for head and block no inlet or gear box or ecu.. So I went 4afe Quote
ke70dave Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 i think you need to understand exactly what bigger valves, porting and polishing actually does. and what effect this has on the engine. Quote
JDMJared Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 Bill sherwood shares a bit of info on 4afe and 7afe heads, he reckons there is one special one which will flow better than a 4age head with a bit of work etc etc. Have a look around his site - you might learn something! So I went 4afe  You're looking in the wrong spot then (or you're only looking at blacktop 20Vs). You can buy a whole AE82 Twincam or wrecked AE92 SX/GTi for that price. Quote
Sam_Q Posted October 15, 2012 Report Posted October 15, 2012 have you considered that doing that work to the engine would cost the same as the $1500 you didn't want to spend? Quote
gilly40k Posted October 16, 2012 Author Report Posted October 16, 2012 I want to keep the 4afe not replace it I only just fitted it to replace the 4afc Quote
gilly40k Posted October 16, 2012 Author Report Posted October 16, 2012 I just want to know what work to do to this head while its being reconed like ported polished over sized vavles stuff like that to improve power if I do any of this work do I need to change anything else? Quote
gilly40k Posted October 16, 2012 Author Report Posted October 16, 2012 And yes I was looking for a black top Quote
