Bought this at a garage sale only because the bell housing had KE30,KE55 & KE70 marked on it. Definately not a Corolla K50 5 speed the box is seperate from the bell housing, i'm thinking T18. If it is how different would the ratios be from the Corolla K50 box. Thinking of changing the K50 out of my KE17, its cracked 2 extension housings?..., possibly the torque of the 7k.

Yep looks like a T50 to me|

It looks identical to my T18 gearbox.

I had a K-T bellhousing and one ready to go in my ke10 until i changed plans.

K50

  • First Gear: 3.789:1
  • Second Gear: 2.220:1
  • Third Gear: 1.435:1
  • Fourth Gear: 1.000:1
  • Fifth Gear: 0.865:1
  • Reverse gear: 4.316:1

T50

  • First Gear: 3.587:1
  • Second Gear: 2.022:1
  • Third Gear: 1.384:1
  • Fourth Gear: 1.00:1
  • Fifth Gear: 0.861:1

T18/ Ta22 have same output splines as ke55/70 gearbox, so she'll go right in! Ta22 has ke55 shifter position and T18 has Ke70 if this helps your choices at all

Why do you find all the bargains Gav!?

That my friend is indeed "rocking horse shite" in the form of a cable K-T bellhousing. Gearbox is a TA22/T18 style T50, which has the shifter position the same as a 30/55 style box. If you've also got a k50 in then the tailshaft will also slip straight in with no mods.

So to fit it all you really need to do is get a new clutch kit (the K-T's use the kit listed by most clutch companies as "Some 5 speeds" with the 21 spline shaft) and sort out a cross member...... which could just be a matter of rotating it 180 degrees.
