altezzaclub Posted October 29, 2014 Report Posted October 29, 2014 the last one I cooked it on the burnout pad Sooo.... new radiator setup then? What about oil surge too? is that a problem? It certainly solves the lack of torque in a 4K !! Quote
KE70+AE92 Posted October 29, 2014 Author Report Posted October 29, 2014 It was definitly the radiator, the engine popped both its head gaskets!!, It was running a 1 gen subaru Liberty raditator, but i Think it was way too thin, I'm going to run a full alloy commodore radiator plus I never had a proper coolent temp gauge to read the temperature so that is a must have for the new setup. KE70+AE92 Posted December 2, 2014 Author Report Posted December 2, 2014 Motor is nearly complete, just waiting for my new clutch to arrive then I will be able to put the engine back in. The motor has been fitted out with the larger injectors, the balance shaft was removed, and my turbo sump was fitted and I put a new water pump on it. Also I painted a few things while they were off. Ive fibreglass wrapped the headers aswell, they came up really good!!! Plus I painted the engine bay, there's so much black lol, it's gonna get hot! I bought a s13 strut brace, it was way to long so I shortened it it fits really good now! Lastly I got my tunable memcal for the ecu, ive installed it all, now I can plug the ecu straight into a laptop and tune on the fly. Hopefully friday the motor goes back in!!! Quote
Skellington Posted March 15, 2015 Report Posted March 15, 2015 OH hey! Love the engine / trans combo for the car. I have a TE38 wagon with a VERY worn engine. I was looking at doing this same swap. I am considering the buick 3800 supercharged engine though. Did you have any hang ups when installing? how was it to fit the manual? I hope this is a simple swap. we also need pics of this thing tearing through a turn. Quote
caibs Posted March 15, 2015 Report Posted March 15, 2015 Shit yeah. This is cool. The Buicks respond so well to boost as well, it'll be a weapon. Quote
