KE70+AE92 Posted September 19, 2012 Report Posted September 19, 2012 hey all ive been lurking around this forum for quite some time but never really got involved, but now i think its time to show off my build and hopefully get positive feedback and some good suggestions well here its goes lol it started of as a learning build as a fun dangerous paddock basher!! i swapped the standard 4k with box for a vr buick v6 engine with a auto box and full loom first step was mounting the engine, solid mounts worked perfectly haha it sits a bit high but it worked well, cut the tunnel out, backyard shortned tailshaft and dogdy wiring and it was a awesome paddock basher, went through multiple sets of tyres :) but i wanted to get a bit serious so i purchesed a poo brown ke70 from my mate, didnt have that much rust was a good starting block. so i dropped the the body onto the v6 with solidmounted crossmember but lowered it 10mm, but i threw away the auto box and installed a t5 manual box, the best thing i done!! got my hands on a ems stinger for nothin out of a mates supra, second best thing i done lol i wired it all myself, i think it went really well, looked clean and was well hidden i had a gen 1 liberty auto radiator just sitting around, so i decided to see if it would fit, and damn it fit perfectly between the rails and sit pretty much flush with the top of the radiator support, second bonus was the outlets were in the right postion aswell next was front end, hates gonna hate but it has a full silvia front end. s14 tein coilovers with cusco tops, s13 sr20 brakes, s13 lower control arm and cefero tierod ends, and s13 master cylinder and booster. i wanted to keep the fuel setup hidden so i went for a undercar fuel setup, i made a box shaped surge tank which fits nicely next to the tank, a 6 psi lift pump and vl fuel pump all mounted under car, i wanted to keep the car as standard and sly looking as possible so it has a standard full interior, minus the recaro driver seat :) gauges moulded in to the original dash and still using the standard tacho dash, i had to modify the tacho, by changing the a resisitor in the back of it i was able to get it to work perfectly with the 6 cylinder, and as the box is borgwarner i was able to use an old cortina speedo cable to run the speedo, it is out by a mile but i just got to play with the speedo gearing a bit. it is still using the standard rolla diff but is a 4.44 ratio so 1st gear is like a crawler gear, ive got a 3.7 rolla diff to put into it but ive been lazy ive always loved watanbe style wheels, and i no there not that loved here, but i found a set of rota rb for a steal so i had to get them, i put a bit of stretch on them and it looks awesome i took it to tafe one week to put it on there dyno, and i had the best luck as one of the teachers there works for a major drag racing team and helped me alot in tuning it, it started at 100rwkws by the end i had 115rwkws which is awesome for a nugget v6 havent had it on a track yet which I'm dieing to do but ive taking it down the strip and it ran a 14.6 which isnt bad but i think with the longer gear ratios and my the dyno tune i should see low 14s heres some photos of the build, i would love some feedback thanks for reading nathan next big thing for it haha Quote

KE70+AE92 Posted September 21, 2012 Author Report Posted September 21, 2012 I'm going to take a stab and say its not engineered? lol. TT buick would definitely get it up and going! thats why theres no rego plates on it haha its ment to be a track car, but you never no one day it might see the road i have two t28s sitting there for it, just got to put a rebuld kit through them and they will be goin straight on Quote
KE70+AE92 Posted November 19, 2013 Author Report Posted November 19, 2013 (edited) Hey all just abit of a update! Progress has been a bit slow but ive done a bit with this! I took it out to the drifts on friday night, damn i had fun!! Went through a few sets of tyres!! But i had a few problems with the steering, but it came down to me not wheel aligning it when i put the suspension in haha! Since then ive done a bit, with the front end i removed the old single pot callipers and i replaced them with s15 4pot callipers and redrilled discs. I fitted longer wheel studs and have 10mm spacers. Also new lower ball joints and sway bar rubbers! New steering wheel, the one i had was 330mm, i found that too small, so i upgraded to a 350mm, it feels alot better! Ive started making the turbo exhaust manifolds using steam pipe, there so easy to use, if i ever make manifolds again i will definitely be using them!! One side is done and it looks awesome! can't wait to finish the other! I also remounted the engine, originally it was solid mounted! That was a fail! So i bought some land rover mounts, i cut the original mounts of the k crossmember and fabed up some new mounts, the motor now sits further down and close to the firewall! Ive still got so much work to do, and heaps of parts to fit but I'm taking my Time and trying to do it right. Edited November 19, 2013 by KE70+AE92 Quote

KE70+AE92 Posted October 29, 2014 Author Report Posted October 29, 2014 Hey guys haven't updated in a while. Ive done quiet a bit since last update! I just got a new motor as the last one I cooked it on the burnout pad lol!! The turbo setup is nearly done, once I put the new motor in it will just be a matter of tuning it. The best thing about using this motor is the minimal stuff you have to do to run boost through them, I'm loving the standard 8.5:1 comp ratio lol! I've added some larger 42lb injectors, 3 bar map sensor and a reprogrammable memcal so I can run the standard ecu. I done a bit to the front end too, i spot welded up the seams on the top of the strut towers, now that I pulled the old motor out I can do inside the engine bay aswell. Then I'll just give everything a coat of paint and it should look pretty slick! I fitted some rear bolt on flares aswell, i was too lazy to weld on so flares plus I got the flares pretty cheap. With the interior I've removed the whole dash and removed the foam padding on the back of the firewall. While the dash was out I painted it matt black, it came up really good!! Plus I added a push button starter, battery isolator. I'm also modifying the original cluster, I love the standard look, so I'm trying to interrogate a electronic speedometer into the cluster so I don't have to run a cable but also makes it easier to get the speedo to be accurate. Also I like red so i fitted so red led back lights and changed the dirty green cluster lens and fitted a clear one. Now the cluster is more visible. I'm so excited I get this thing running and on the track. Thanks Quote
Jono.C Posted October 29, 2014 Report Posted October 29, 2014 Please tell me you're going to re-weld those engine mounts to the crossmember? They look like its been glued! Car looks tough though, Good with the rota's Quote
