CorollaNut68 Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 I can't seem to find a kit or a new master cylinder for my KE10, it seems I saw somewhere another model will bolt straight in? Getting bad pedal drop now and have to keep pumping...all the pads, shoes, calipers, cylinders etc have been renewed. Quote
Jono.C Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 (edited) My green ke10 has a ke20 master. Id just get yours rebuilt. Can't any local stores get them new? Edited September 13, 2012 by Jono.C Quote
parrot Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 You should know better than that Jono. Virtually nothing brake hydraulic wise is available off the shelf. Quote
Jono.C Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 I thought you should be able to master cylinders through a brake place atleast? Plus America might be different to Australia in availability But yes I found out the hard way when I did my wheel cylinders.. Having it rebuilt/ sleeved is probably the way to go then Quote
KEI069 Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 Put a Mazda rx4 master cylinder on it and get dual circuit. Small mods needed but not overly difficult. Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 (edited) My KE18 has a mazda master cylinder but I didnt put it in so unsure what kind (may be an RX one as stated above) I can take a photo tomorrow if that helps. Edited September 13, 2012 by B.L.Z.BUB Quote
mattress Posted September 13, 2012 Report Posted September 13, 2012 I bought an aftermarket item to suit a KE10 from the states. Its a Johnson brand if my memory is correct and is dual circuit as well. Quote
philbey Posted September 14, 2012 Report Posted September 14, 2012 Early galant master cylinders GA-GD models, are dual and have the same bolthole spacing. You also have options for a matching size bore and at least one other size so you can tune your braking a little if you want. Quote
CorollaNut68 Posted September 16, 2012 Author Report Posted September 16, 2012 Thanks for the ideas....I see it listed at a lot of places but out of stock when I try to order it..one place says I can ship it to them and they will ship it back when done, being as it's my only vehicle right now I was hoping to just swap something without a lot of downtime. I have one place to call on Monday...NAPA, (just had a 'DOH!' moment as I was writing this and checked their site) they list it with the correct picture, but it's best to call first and make sure, I have gotten some original style things from them before but they are higher than everyone else too. I'm trying to get her back to, and keep her in, as original order as I can. ('cept for those 12 inch wheels and drum brakes...I'll keep my 13's and discs, and just use the 12's for shows when she's done.) Quote

Also homerske-17 runs a 626 master in his to get dual circuit(which is needed for engineers in Vic) Quote
KEI069 Posted September 18, 2012 Report Posted September 18, 2012 Hey Stu, the Mazda 626 rear wheel drive and rx4 cylinders are very similar if not the same. To fit the ke10 you elongate the two mounting holes about 1.5 mm and shave the sides of the mounting flange To fit between the firewall supports. Also make the hole in the firewall a couple of mm larger In diameter. I think you might even be able to use the standard brake lines Cheers Justin Quote
CorollaNut68 Posted September 20, 2012 Author Report Posted September 20, 2012 I found my old original and am shipping it off to be rebuilt by 'Cardone'. This way I can keep driving (and hopefully stopping) til it gets back.....about 26 bucks plus my shipping it to them...return shipping included...can't beat that. Quote

I'll hunt for one at a center road and sus it out. They are the ones with the remote reservoirs correct? Quote
CorollaNut68 Posted October 3, 2012 Author Report Posted October 3, 2012 Just got an email from cardone...they can't rebuild it and are sending it back....I guess I'll look for ke20's or mazda's? Quote
mattress Posted October 4, 2012 Report Posted October 4, 2012 I may have two originals at home. I'll have a look and see if I can't find one. Quote
